• 6B5.9 Belt Guard Bolt Oil Leak

December 4, 2022 at 3:25 pm One of my 2, 370 HP diamonds (CPL 2208) leaks (heavily) from the belt guard lower right attachment bolt (viewed from engine front).
Belt guard has different length bolts (3 bolts total)). Which length goes here?
Is there some sealing procedure for this bolt?

August 29, 2022 at 10:23 am Hi, On this 1992 Mediterranean 38, with two 6BTA5.9 210HP, the vibration isolators (engine mounts) seem to be shot, at least that is my guess.
Boat is vibrating/rattling like crazy when in idle, and rattles even more when idling in gear.
When raising the RPMs to 1100 and above, in gear or not, rattling and vibration subsides. Pretty sure these are the original OEM ones and engines have 1500h on each. November 28, 2022 at 7:15 pm Hello I have a 2011 Cabo 40 that just underwent full service including a top end rebuild on the stbd QSC600 and two new turbos. We have sea trialed the boat 3 times and we are constantly getting just under 3000 rpm at WOT. Fuel burn and load look pretty good etc. wondering if these 600hp 8.3s with Zeus pods should be turning up over 3000. Attached are the screen shots of WOT today.

December 4, 2022 at 8:08 am Thanks for that information. The boat is running great so we will probably make the trip savannah to st Mary’s and schedule a haul out to grease the wheels etc. if I interpret what you are saying correctly, it may not be worth spending the money on a prop shop. Perhaps I just need a slightly different prop? Attached is the vessel view from yesterday.

December 2, 2022 at 10:10 am I am finally beginning the process of upgrading my 4BT cooling to match the 6BT 210hp. I wanted to get some input on the direction I am going. I purchased expansion tanks that I believe are made for a 6bt used for a generator. These seem to be the best I can find that will work in the limited space my boat offers. These tanks came with a bracket that I am modifying to fit my 4bt’s. I attached a picture and circled the holes that I am…

December 2, 2022 at 7:56 pm The 4BT “shakes” vigorously to put it mildly at low RPM / Idle speed. I had problems with a similar expansion tank that I modified and mounted with brackets. I had a weld crack and leak coolant. The reason for this crack is possibly from me not being a professional welder. After that I mounted both my expansion tanks “remotely” on the bulkhead wall and could not be happier with the performance. The problems I had are in…

December 1, 2022 at 10:17 am I own a 2010 3900 Tiara with twin Cummins QSC 8.3 600 HO diesels. I’m searching for, and cannot find anywhere, what the saltwater cooling side capacity is. November 26, 2022 at 9:25 am I removed a thermal switch from the upper port side of my engine (Early 6BT, CPL 742) this morning. (Cummins part # 194505) I did some searches but found very limited information on the part. Is this part just a thermal switch for the high-temperature alarm? Is this the best location for high temp readings? I had planned on placing my new coolant thermal switch closer to the thermostat on the top of the block.

November 26, 2022 at 8:17 am The “purple” wire that will go to the CAV pump will get an ignition “on” 12 Volt signal. I am not sure about wiring it to the MAG switch tho. The MAG switch will get a 12 volt signal when “cranking” to activate the starter. I rewired my engines and kept it as simple as possible…we are in the “marine” environment and every less connection we have is one less that will corrode over time……
