New-to-me boat and engines:  2019 QSB6.7 480s.  Has the ‘factory standard’ 160A Delco alternators.  How are these fused….is there an internal fuse or are they mounted on the engine? Or not fused at all?

Right now,  each alternator charges separate Start batteries.  I want to combine the P & S Start batteries into a single Start ‘bank’, charged by the Port alternator only.  I want to dedicate the Stb alt to the House bank (and externally regulate it)….which is why I’d like to understand how fusing is done now.

    Thanks in advance!

    DCV Power Distribution Design

Never seen a fuse on the alternator output on a QSB 6.7. But that does not mean you don’t have one as many boats have custom OEM wiring.

BUT IMO, I’d never share batteries between house loads or engine to engine under normal operation with a electronic engine.. So many batter ways to have both alternators charge the house bank yet charge each start battery automatically yet keep them from talking to each other and not loose the safety of having twin engines.  House has an issue and takes your engine down?  Talk about a very poor DC POWER distribution design
