The tensioner is 7 years old. Probably 2000 hrs. Both engines do the same thing. Is this normal?

    Thanks, Dave

This is a Cummins Part–Not a SBMAR part —- made by Dayco or some other manufacturer.

Replacement time at 3000 hrsĀ  (in a marine environment) = I would 100%Ā  if a single engine vessel——-Belt, Alternator & idler too–And I’d look at / checkĀ  the coolant pump too.. All spin at 2.5X engine RPM–Think about it.Ā  Do the math at 1800 avg RPM— 800,000,000 + rotations ??

Is it normal to have to replace the SBMAR spring idler at 3000 hrs?

I already did the upgrade. It’s an SBMAR tensioner sioner that’s in question.

Looks worn to me, 2,000 hours, I’d replace them.Ā  Here’s a running engine video for comparison
