November 27, 2016 at 6:32 am Hi guys,   One of our engines 6Bta 370 has a vibration when underway, Ā I missed getting a pic of the mount that looks like it has failed but got some of the other mounts.   My question is what is the minimum height for a loaded barry Mount?   I measured from the top of the stringer to the bottom of the engine bracket. December 22, 2016 at 12:20 pm Andrew, Every engine room is going to be different as to how this is done due to access, clearances, etc.Ā  Working one mount at a time and to just take the weight off the mount, like a 1/16″ lift, you may be able to work with wood blocking under the corner of the pan and a wedge and hammer to get that slight lift to get the weight off the mount.Ā  Just remove the top nut from the mount first. If you need to do more than that then you should…

December 15, 2016 at 9:21 am Hello all I am looking for some guidance here, I have year 2000 Cummins 6BTA’s in my 28 Carolina classic with 1400 hours on them. 1000 service done. I thought I had a prop issue. Finding out from wild cat both the props were the same this tells me I have a port Engi…

The max temp you should get measuring the wet (cooled) exhaust is 140degF, less is better.Ā  Measure the port and starboard and measure around the circumference as perhaps one showerhead is doing a better job of spray and mixing the…

    • Fuel bleed after filter change QSC

December 19, 2016 at 11:37 pm On a QSC after an on engine filter change I have heard two ways to bleed fuel and prime engine.   1. Open bleed screw on top,of filter housing and cycle key until fuel comes out. ReferenceĀ http://www.sbmar.com/articles/how-to-bleed-fuel-on-a-cummins-qsl-9-qsc-8-3/   2. December 20, 2016 at 7:12 am It’s not what is proper or not proper. It’s as matter of getting it to bleed easily..   1) Changing just the on-engine filter–Loosen just the outlet screw to allow air to escape thru the threads.   2) If changing Ā filters OFF the engine, then remove the IN-Screw on that filter head.   By far the easiest way for both is to install a “squeeze bulb” priming system.. December 6, 2016 at 12:32 pm Can a Cummins ETS binnacle setup be swapped out/added to a boat that currently has separate electronic shifters/mechanical throttle controls?Ā  The separate shift/throttle is on the 07 Meridian 391, but in 08 they switched to the ETS binnacle on the same motors. Id consider doing this to add the sync feature on the ETS, and removing the shifters currently there would free up some space at the helm for some electronics. Thank you!

December 5, 2016 at 12:51 pm I run my boat in very silty and shallow sandy conditions and I cannot keep my raw water pump working so I would like to change to keel cooling. My current setup runs raw water through my aftercooler, gear oil cooler, heat exchanger and out the exhaust elbow. December 5, 2016 at 7:09 pm Thank you David for the reply. Ā So it sounds like the coolant circulation pump should have enough power to push coolant through the engine, transmission oil cooler and keel cooler? And if that works than the aftercooler could be connected to a separate keel cooler and circulated with the raw water pump. I wish this site had a picture of the coolant routing with arrows drawn in showing the flow. I saw a picture like this but it was for fuel flow.…
