February 23, 2023 at 3:41 pm So my son who is broke with 3 beautiful children purchased a new to him boat last year before he knew number 3 was on the way.Itā€™s a 2001 formula pc. I looked at the boat and we came up with a bunch of items for repair. The boat has some good bones and was a good buy but one among many other items I insisted he fix was the waste thru hull. The valve handle is stripped and stuck in the open position so we removed the ball valve. As he is broke and…

February 25, 2023 at 6:04 am Would definitely make sense to replace the thru-hull, especially considering it will need to be cut down to proper height for the flange adapter. I agree that the overboard option has its uses and should not be abandoned.Ā

June 29, 2022 at 1:31 pm Love my wolverines but after a year and a half it seems one has failed.Doesnā€™t seem like there is any trouble shooting to do as basically there is just a plug and a pad.Anybody have to take one off and replace. Seems like a pain to remove.I was hoping for more than a year and a half.outlet is fine.Bill

I was considering them also but the reviews werenā€™t great.About 100 bucks each. One reviewer said he got about a year and a half on his in the marine environment. But if you read all the reviews itā€™s hard to buy anything. They would seem to be a perfect solution if they last.Let us know.Bill

June 18, 2022 at 2:48 pm I just noticed a salt water leak in my generator pan.Of course itā€™s leaking from the back of the engine which is impossible to get a visual on. I can see a drip line which leads to a puddle under the engine which is coming from approximately the circled red circle. I can get my hand back there some but cannot feel any moisture on that hose or the exhaust pipe. From looking at the schematic I donā€™t see any other spots raw water could be leaking fr…

February 8, 2022 at 2:50 pm So I decided to change all my motor mounts on my 480ce.At first I thought it would be easier until I looked at my access and the amount I would have to jack up my engine. My shafts are out right now so the access would be better. The yard wants a ton to do the job so if itā€™s something I can tackle I would like to give it a try. I donā€™t want to bite off more than I can chew so Iā€™m looking for advice from anyone who has done this. The boat is a 38 ti…

February 9, 2022 at 9:50 am Thanks to all for the great information.Gene youā€™re right about formulating a plan. I looked at pictures of my engine room and as Rob said I have what looks like aluminum spacers under each mount and top nuts are pretty high on the stud.Hopefully the sliding sideways method works after getting the pressure off. I plan to measure the height before removal of each one to help with alignment. The new mounts look like a match to the old so hopefully …

I agree with you about it not being the problem but I think while everything is out and I have no idea when they were done last it was best to do them. July 18, 2021 at 5:55 pm On my 480 ce I have had an oil leak on my port engine since purchasing. It seems to be the rear main seal as itā€™s leaking from the bell housing and is dark. I lose maybe a pint in a season so I put a hose on it and let it drain into a milk jug. Now I have started to notice a minor leak coming from where my starter bolts on. Not sure if this is from the leak into the bell housing or if from somewhere else. Not sure how oil would get to that spot a…

July 19, 2021 at 5:13 am What I did to monitor how much was leaking was put a hose to a garden hose repair end which screws into a barb I screwed in slightly to the plug in bottom of bell housing. The picture shows the hose going into milk container in bilge. I will monitor as I have been. Not enough so far to do anything about.Never noticed oil by the starter before so thatā€™s why I mentioned it.Thanks for the reply.Bill

April 1, 2021 at 6:39 pm Lose the cooler and the fuel block and you will have eliminated several potential leak points and hoses. Itā€™s a fairly simple project. I have done this a year ago on one engine and and spent following season monitoring and comparing the engine with cooler vs engine w/o cooler. Fuel on non cooled side runs only 4-5 degrees higher. And that is after 6+ hours running. Not to mention easier impeller changes. I will be removing the other side. Back t…
