November 16, 2022 at 8:52 pm Noticed soot build up around turbo housing. Took heat shield off today and leak is where the linkage enters the turbo. Is there a fix for this?Ā Thanks in advance.Ā

Mike

October 31, 2022 at 8:10 am Good Morning There has to be a way to clean these! $300 to replace seems insane to me especially if youā€™re Ā racking up yearly hours. Please let me know if anyone had attempted and the results. I can photo document and post if we can come together and get it done Ā Thanks Mike

October 31, 2022 at 1:57 pm The Airsep is a big PITA, you can buy the Envirovent for a little more than a new Walker canister, and never mess with it again. Ā Overfilling the sump can result in blowby symptoms, make sure you have not overfilled it. Ā

May 15, 2022 at 6:57 pm Volts sit constant around 13.2-13.7. I noticed while running at times the volts will spike in the 14-15 range then settle back to the 13.2-13.7 range. Sounds like something is cycling like a heater? Ā Happening on both engines at the same time while running.Ā

any idea on what could be cycling or cause if the spike in voltage? Thanks in advance.Ā

mike

    • QSC 540 expansion tank bubbles with video

December 18, 2021 at 2:00 pm To further a previous postā€¦ Ran the boat in our annual Xmas parade. Boat ran fine an most of the night was spent at idle or under 1000 rpm. Upon return I found coolant leaking into the bilge from the coolant in pipe to HX after thermostat. The plastic overflow tank was full upon return and some of the coolant returned to the engine once cooled. I figured it was the leak that caused the plastic tank to fill. I fixed the leak by draining down …

December 19, 2021 at 5:34 am We have a QSC500 and FWIW I can confirm that it takes quite a few engine hours after a coolant change before the level settles. Last time we did this I was actually about to take the turbo off as I suspected loosing coolant through the infamous exhaust to turbo gasket…when the “loss” of coolant finally stopped. However your initial problem seems more to have to do with building pressure in the cooling system. No experience with…

December 12, 2021 at 1:49 pm Last night during our annual holiday parade I noticed my coolant expansion bottle was full and overflowing into the bilge. Boat was only run at 1000 rpm or less and temp never got over 165. Have never had this happen. Any ideas and where to start for correcting the issue. Never had an overheat. 1800 flawless hours. Thanks Mike

December 18, 2021 at 6:55 pm JMO but when I have work to do on the coolant side I drain all of it. That way no surprises. Depending upon the engine and installation you may still have a small quantity escape. Actually I do the same on the raw water side although that is not quite as clear cut.

November 30, 2021 at 8:32 pm Getting ready to service my aftercoolers. I have done the QSB’s prior but the QSC’S are new to me. Looks a little more involved with the fuel and oil cooler attached. What is the best way to remove? Any pics of the removal process? Should I plan on removing all 3 coolers as 1 unit? I know what to do once they are off and will photo document, TIA Mike

August 5, 2021 at 11:02 am QSC 540’s in a Mikelson 43. I want to change the fresh water flush to the upper port on the water pump to be able to flush with engine off. The dripless is currently getting water from the port on the water pump after the impeller. Current fresh water flush is through the cap on the sea strainer. Where can I pull water for the dripless other than the upper port on the raw water pump? Thanks Mike
