Fill with jb weld and pressure test. Thatā€™s from condensation sitting in the cooler.Ā

Donā€™t worry about the inside corrosion. I have seen a ton of these aftercoolers with this. It can be from condensation sitting in the cooler. What you need to make sure is the surface where the o ring sits is in good condition. That with a new bundle that has been pressure tested and you will be good to go. Ā I test both the core and the entire unit once reassembled just to be sure.

these housings are aluminum and will corrode with condensation over time. Usually resulting in elevated aluminum readings in oil samples.Ā

ask me how I know!!!

I believe the qsc fuel curve reads 17.5 gal at 2200. Ā Please correct me if Iā€™m wrong. Thanks.Ā

Spent some time in the ER today. Cleaned everything up and leak is coming from under this cap. Ā On the qsc the mixing elbow and spacer ring need to be removed. I had them off last year so should not be a huge deal. This cap has never been off so concerned with breaking these bolts. I have them soaking in penetrating oil now. Has anyone removed this before and resealed? Ā I have the replacement cap and screws but there is no gasket listed for this seal.

Thanks in advance for any inputĀ

that is somewhat normal on the qsc.Ā I have them as well.Ā just need to make sure you are properly loaded and within the fuel curve.Ā read up about it on this site. they are great engines and super easy to self maintain.

Easy as it gets. Literally plug and play. So much easier to see the data. I donā€™t get gear data as I used to one the dieselview. I was going to ask Corey what was needed to get the gear data.Ā

Report back once you bump the rpm’s.Ā if it goes away its most likely gear rattle.Ā i have it on a previous boat.

I isolated each side today and only the starboard side surges. Iā€™m figuring itā€™s the alternator voltage regulator. Is this serviceable or a full replacement.Ā

Thanks

Looks fine IMO.Ā Lets see the ends.Ā clean them up, pressure test, new orings, lots of lube, and your set.Ā The stat comes out of the pipe just FYI

Thanks Brian.Ā Mine are 2005 vintage. Ā maybe they were different as I am 100% positive I did not have that ring. Ā I pressure tested the bundle out of the housing and the air side once reassembled and both held. Ā Ā

Update***Ā I just verified early qsc’s used 3 o rings and the newer uses 4.

    Thanks

question:Ā what aluminum rings do you reference above?

How did you remove the core that would not budge?Ā Ā

I have done one side of my qsc’s and getting ready to do the other.

    Thanks
