    Change it on condition. The bottom one is corroding because it stays immersed, or at least wet, the top is drying out after shutdown.

    question for you guys .. i dont freshwater flush at all .. and of course my bottom pencil zinc is gone after the season ..( similar to the above pic posted by scott) but the top one is in perfect shape .. is this normal ? should i change the top one annually even though it looks brand new ?

    Its not a great photo but in the bucket is last years bottom AC zinc after 12 months without raw water flush. Like Steves it is just a stub.

    Although I can’t show a picture as a comparison, mine are generally just the brass bits by the time they hit 12months.. if that helps… Fresh water flush is on the to-do list…

    What would the zincs have looked like if there was no freshwater flush? Need to have a side by side comparison to see the effectiveness of the flush.

    Here are my after cooler zincs after 12 months. Boat lives in salt water with fresh water flush after each use using 3/4 inch garden hose.
