After cooler core thoughts . My after coolers were done the seaboard way. Engines always fresh water flushed. This picture is from the top side of the after cooler core . Is this small area of salt on the fins a issue?

    Very early Aftercooler Cores

You have very early aluminum finned aftercooler cores that considering their vintage (30 yrs old) andĀ  couch engineer design, look to be in amazing shape.

If you notice where you see what you think is salt is most likely corrosionĀ  on the aluminum side reacting from typical moisture that canĀ  bridge the gap between the lower copper fin and the aluminum fin above it..Ā  Ā Just clean it and you’ll be fine.Ā  What ever you are doing as to service, you are doing it right.
