    Greetings from Tjøme, Norway.

We are operating a search and rescue/ambulance boat in the outer Oslofjord in Norway.

The boat is a 44 foot aluminum boat with 2x Cummins QSC 8.3 600 hp

For a long time we have had a problem that one of the engines are cutting out at high RPM for a fraction of a second.  When it happens the engine reduces max rpm and the marvelous SeaCraft reports “system fault” usually with “low fuel pressure”

It has ben quite frustraiting to find the source of the problem, especially since the problem does only occur outside summer season.

By monitoring all engine date we see that the troubleful engine is running with a higher oil pressure than the other. We also have found out that if the pressure exeeds 5 bar/73 psi the SmartCraft system shuts down the engine . Changing the oil pressure sensor did not help.

    Any ideas?

Until you install a high quality liquid filled 0-150 or 0-200 PSI gauge on a proper hose that you can monitor while running  what is the “real oil pressure”,  IMO you are chasing a Mercury Smartcrap glitch.

Nothing I have ever read would make your engine shut down with a high OP like you are stating either. That sounds even more like a “Mercury” glitch.

Are you using Cummins oil filters? Everything is “factory”

Got some good pics of the overall installation?
