Tuna bite here in S.California has begun to slow. Getting ready to spend some quality time in the engine room of Go Time.

Qsb 5.9 380’s. 2004/2005. This is my first go around on these engines. I like to start at the front of the engines and work back.

    1. I looked at the serpentine belts today. They read part # 3290128. This website tells me they should be 3975127 now replaced with 5466980. Question is what’s on them now with part # 3290128?

    2. Oil drain hoses are attached to the bottom of the air seps. What’s the process of separating these and draining oil. There is a fitting between the blue drain hose and the black air sep hose.

    Thanks in advance.

Btw: Tony I will be placing a parts order this week to include all parts and aftercooler kits as well.

Thanks Tony. I have no idea when or how they have been serviced but I need to get them done for piece of mind. I am just finishing up all the fluids and belts then I will pull one side and see what we got. I will be in touch!!!

If the aftercoolers were never serviced properly since new, you stand way less than a 50-50 chance ( basically “0” chance) as to getting them out ( 13-14 yrs of “Marine Age”).. At best, they would have to “soak” for 2-3 days– so it’s not a while you wait thingee.

Thanks rob. Mine are 3290128. Spoke to Brandon and he advised there is in fact 3 belts for qsb5.8 380. I ordered them and tear down begins Tuesday.

Here is a question for Tony and crew….

If I tear down my aftercoolers and can’t get the insert out, can I drive these up to you and have them done?

    Thanks

    Mike

See attached – Not apples to apples as to those two belts in length and material.

Have you been on Walker website? They have all of the tech documents for download.
