Here are some pics of my exhaust set up. The fiberglass elbows are “sweating” what appears to be salt. Also, below each elbow are rust stains as if the drip.
Anyone ever seen this and what are my options to rectify
Thanks
Mike

That was my thought exactly. Just did my port aftercooler today and again someone followed proper protocol. The bundle slid right out. All serviced up per Tony’s guidelines.
I will reach out to Tony’s team
Thanks.

Mike, the overall geometry (rise and run) of that starboard riser is okay, it’s the wet vs dry configuration that is bad… too much wet, not enough dry Not sure what your off season timeframes are but you could pull that assembly of as a unit and drive it up to Seaboard and have it used as a template. The new riser would not be wet until after the high point with a downward pointed showerhead.

Mike,
All of your “options” are here.. You need to study the 20+++ years of proper exhaust designs written up in these links and your “options” will become crystal clear as to what needs to be done.

And the others that follow..
IMO, both sides will eventually do you in–That you can take to the bank..

January 3, 2019 at 11:23 pm #52047Thanks for the input. I know the stb side does not drain 100%. Port side does. Tony what are my options on the stb side? What is ideal to have the water drain 100%. Thanks. Mike.

Grease or Rectorseal #5 (best)..
Starboard riser– full on “Doomed to Failure”
Port Riser– A little better, but not by much.
Nice engines to see them taken out but such a poor exhaust design…..If you are not sure what I mean, do some reading and look at pictures as what will happen to you turbos when the inner wall rots thru…..

January 3, 2019 at 6:07 pm #52018Went down to look at the elbows today. The are covered in salt crystals. I ordered new ones.
Any trade secrets to getting the 6 inch exhaust hose to slide on smoothly?
Thanks

I would wipe clean everything spic and span with fresh water and then WWM…
January 2, 2019 at 9:27 pm #51862That hatch has a one inch lip. I think that water is coming from the rust spot under the fiberglass elbow. There are salt crystals on the elbow after we run and a spot of water where the rust is. If you look at the elbow on the port side you can see the salt. It seems like it follows the wrap of the fiberglass.
Thanks for looking.

Looks to me like you have water leaking from the deck down onto the elbow and then down to the sea cock valve….
January 2, 2019 at 8:02 pm #51846Here you go rob. The fiberglass elbow has salt build up on it. On the stb side you can see the rust spot below the elbow with salt as well.
January 2, 2019 at 7:47 pm #51845I will post better pics.

Mike,
Pictures are tough to work with — very small. Can you re-upload in higher resolution? Looks like a set of “poor man risers” where someone just used short dry extensions with OEM elbows bolted on rather than custom dry risers with an integral downward showerhead… The starboard wet elbow looks to be oriented in a manner that it does not fully drain on shutdown. I think you’ve been around this stuff long enough to know that this is not good. Port riser looks like it self drains. As to the sweat is it not just condensation?
