    • Need to know what cables I will need to upgrade to VV7

This topic has 6 replies, has 4 voices, and was last updated byMark Millard 2 years ago

July 30, 2020 at 6:45 pm I have Smart Craft Diesel vieaw 4 on my 2006 Seary 44DB with QSC 500 HD engines. I have an opportunity to buy a gently used VV7 to install in its place as the display is fading. I need to know which cables I will need to buy to integrate the VV7. I already have the DV4 linked to my MFD with a NEMA gateway via STNG. Will the VV7 be a compatible upgrade? Thanks for any help. Rusty Mayes

March 3, 2022 at 10:59 pm HI Rusty, I know this is a reply to post more than a year ago, but I was very keen to know exactly how you link your DV4 to NMEA and MFD using STNG. Could you email me if you get this reply – [email protected]. Im looking for an interim solution to the DV4 screen failure and didnt realise the engine data could be extracted from it into NMEA2000? regards, Mark Townsville, Australia

January 19, 2022 at 11:33 am Hi Completely new to this forum – I have a CMD QSB 5.9 (x2) on Zeus pods – I was wondering what Mercury Vessel View options are available to me – can I upgrade from 2012 to 2022 and can I integrate with Raymarine Axiom (NMEA2000) or due to Cummins and Mercury splitting – is the tech now not compatible? TIA Nick

This is possible? I mean i have 4 raymarine displays (Axiom+) and i have not the space for the original Diesel View displays. Thanks

April 11, 2021 at 10:37 am I have a pair of QSB 6.7’s 425hp essentially un altered from factory. I recently purchased new 8D gel batteries, two per engine (12 volt systems) I have read that I should instal voltage regulators that will charge these ( very expensive ) batteries if I want them to last. November 2, 2021 at 5:24 pm Late??? Very late I know. Gels, actual gels? OR are you talking about AGMs? It matters, a lot. Both do require different voltages to recharge for proper life and best use. They are good batteries but like all batteries can be short lived if not treated right. Agree also about the 120vac charger for both types. The typical alternator regulator is not set up to look after these things. It is set up to look after the much more typical wet cell…

October 19, 2021 at 5:29 pm Called Faria and they are going to release a new set of synch gauges in 3 to 6 months for mag pickup motors. So if you are building a dash panel now you can use one of their old 4 inch SY9724A or SY9725A models and then buy the new matching synch gauge when they release them.

September 29, 2021 at 6:31 am Hi, I have a Sea Ray 400 sedan bridge with twin all-mechanical Cummins 6CTA-8.3M’s in it. They are running great, but as we know, analog helm gauges are only so accurate. My tachs, for example, read 50RPM low on the SB and 50RPM low on the Port. That’s not too big of a deal as I make sure to account for that while operating. But I’d love to see the actual tach readout on my chartplotter. My prior boat was a 320 Sundancer wit…

October 15, 2021 at 6:48 am Steve, short answer is… it is not possible because the screens themselves are the actual N2K gateway. There are other systems out there but they require much more “interaction” to configure and program between the engine and NMEA network. If you’re technically hands on, then that may be the way to go…

September 14, 2021 at 12:32 pm I have twin QSB5.9’s of 2005 vintage, with Smartcraft and integrated DTS/joystick (gen 1). While underway, my actual battery voltage is usually around 13.1-13.5, both engines, read via DVM. SmartCraft shows 10.4 (port) – 11.1 (starboard). No alarms are ever thrown to the display.
