March 2, 2023 at 7:14 pm Hello Tony, Rob, Corey and rest of tne team and forum. I’ve replaced the Smartcraft VV with the 403’s and I’m very happy with them cause I can now see ALL the data at daylight with no issues and better yet in full color; however, the technician told me that the harness has NO connectors to install external (loud audible) alarm buzzers, so if something goes wrong and my eyes are not on the 403 screens, I’m not able to real…

    • SMX Turbocator gauge wiring question

November 24, 2022 at 4:48 am I’ve got two of the SMX Turbocator gauges I’m installing, and I want to confirm what I’m seeing in the instructions. The paper instructions and the online ones in the SMX store both show the same thing: there’s no 12vdc power required for the gauge, only for the light. One reason I’m asking is because there’s a big + stamped into the back of the housing near the terminal for the yellow wire. Snooping around th…

August 25, 2022 at 5:13 pm I have a 2002 CC28 with twin Cummins 4BTAs. I purchased the boat with the starboard tach and temp gauges non-functional. The port temp gauge is not reading either. I chased the wires back though the harness to the engine and found some melted ground wires in the bundle on the way through the conduit.  This happened prior to taking ownership and the surveyor totally missed it. August 28, 2022 at 7:01 am Wow, the surveyor missed non-functioning gauges, even the most cursory surveyors have those checkboxes on their clipboard.  Lots of electrical issues going on, makes you wonder if the boat was damaged at one time or just neglected over the years… As a start, since you have a twin setup, you can switch gauges between P&S and see if the issues stay or move.

July 6, 2022 at 9:28 am I have an Cummins ED1 display on my 2003 Sea Ray 480 sedan with QSM11 engines. I was adjusting the  contrast and it stored  the setting that  is not viewable.  I tried the reset for the ED3  “hold the first 4 keys… to reset to central value.”  It did not work. How can I reset it back to the factory default? or how do I reset the contrast if i cant see the screen?  I appreciate any advise. Thanks

July 7, 2022 at 7:50 am The fact that your ancient ED1 display works at all  means you are ahead of most..  No clue how to reset other than maybe, disconnect all power to the engine and display for 30 minutes,  and then maybe things might re-boot when you power up…..    Lots on this web site about the old ED1 and what your options are when you get to where your display is basically un-readable

September 21, 2018 at 9:45 am Hi, I recently installed a VesselView 4 into my 2007 SeaRay, replacing the dead DieselView unit. I unplugged the wiring harness from the command module and connected the 403 harness in its place. The 403 works great but at the same time, all my dash gauges stopped working. Does the cable I disconnected need to connect to something else? Many thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to point this newbie in the right direction.

March 7, 2022 at 10:45 am Currently have Glenndinning controls (non electronic) in helm and up in the tower. Boat has smartcraft units in helm and just tac gauges in the tower.  When im up in the tower not in synch or in synch I can not reach full RPMs without maxing out my throttle range first. Matter of fact I dont come close.  Down below in the helm I have no issue. How do I go about troubleshooting the range/RPM issue on the tower controls?
