I have Smart Craft Diesel vieaw 4 on my 2006 Seary 44DB with QSC 500 HD engines. I have an opportunity to buy a gently used VV7 to install in its place as the display is fading. I need to know which cables I will need to
buy to integrate the VV7. I already have the DV4 linked to my MFD with a NEMA gateway via STNG.
Will the VV7 be a compatible upgrade?
    Thanks for any help.

Can you link Smartcraft to NMEA2000 then MFD

    HI Rusty,

I know this is a reply to post more than a year ago, but I was very keen to know exactly how you link your DV4 to NMEA and MFD using STNG.

Could you email me if you get this reply – [email protected].

Im looking for an interim solution to the DV4 screen failure and didnt realise the engine data could be extracted from it into NMEA2000?

    regards,

Cummins has washed their hands of all Mercury stuff.. All you have to do is ask yourself why they did..They also washed their hands of BEEDE instrumentation in the last year.. Same answer for both… They don’t want to deal with either of them anymore.. Too many glitches..

Only one solution–Your ECM’s parent language before Mercury turns it into some “Unknown Alien Dialect” thru the SIM module, that is getting harder & harder to sort out…………………………………………………. SAE J1939 is the only answer and every other manufacturer uses it too.Once you go J-1939, the would world of digital instrumentation opens up with NEMA 2000 at the for front.

I was under the impression that VV7 was the answer to the original Diesel View Smartcrap. So now it’s obsolete?

Whats the answer then? 2005 QSB 380’s w/smartcrap….working fine but display not so good….

    Thank You Tony.

Why would you want to go from your current Mercury Smartcrap system to one that has already been obsoleted? Anyway, it will not be simple & probably not cheap.. I suspect it will be more that just cables.

[email protected] might be able to help.. Drop him a note .
