    • Chasing down jumpy gauges – protecting connections.

September 19, 2018 at 6:49 am 1999 Cummings 6BTA 5.9 M-3. I’m chasing oil gauge issues on both engines. At low RPMs (<1,000) no issues, all gauges indicate rock steady. When pushing up to say 2,000 one or both gauges will start to swing erratically, and eventually fall to zero. This typically leads to an engine alarm in a few minutes (though not always – not sure why). Jogging the throttles to bring RPMs up and down tends to bring the gauges off the zero,…

June 22, 2018 at 1:20 am I have attached a photo of my vessel view display looking pretty sick. It is just showing horizontal white lines across the screen. Any one seen this before? Could it be a connection or will it need replacing? I have unplugged the connections on the back which has made no difference.

September 24, 2018 at 3:23 pm I have attached photos of SMX up and running, very happy! I have also attached a photo of the old smart craft wiring. As Corey says, one of the benefits of this system is its simplicity. The space under my helm station used to be a mess of tangled wires, now it is relatively simple and uncluttered.

September 3, 2018 at 2:55 am HI everyone, I am pretty much new to power boating; so you can guess I do not know much about engines and instrumentation. Everything was running smoothly until I had my engines serviced. When I start them the RPM tachometer for one engine fluctuates wildly from 600 to 2000 RPM, also under load. The engine runs fine. I have ruled out a faulty tachometer because the one in the boat and the one on the flybridge are doing the same thing. Has anyb…

August 16, 2018 at 2:33 pm Hi I have a 2000 Tiara 31 Open with Cummins 330B motors Can anyone confirm where the tach signal comes from? Took my tachometer in for rebuild and they say my tachs are getting signal from something other than the magnetic pick up I havenā€™t seen any variation to this anywhere Iā€™ve read. Anybody know if they used anything else ? My controls are all manual no ECU or anything Any insights would be appreciated

July 14, 2018 at 11:46 am I have a 1997 Maxum 4600 SCB with two Cummins Diesels. Trying to locate the RPM sensor. Don’t know if it was placed on the alternator or the transmission. March 17, 2018 at 9:31 am I see, yes you are correct that the panel set points for the ED-1/ED-X display on a 480CE cannot be changed because that set-point number is determined by the engine ECM controller… not the display. Think of your display as a “monitor” and nothing else. The displays we use (SMX DigitalView) to indicate instrumentation on mechanical engines uses software that Seaboard developed in-house and therefore we have much more flexibilit…
