December 14, 2023 at 11:46 pm Hey guys I’ve got the original SC5000 engine screens on my 2006 Tiara and they are pretty much toast. I’m trying to get the SmartCraft Connect Gateway that allows me to push all that data to some dedicated 7″ Raymarine Axioms instead and I’m trying to see if it’s possible. It appears the way my gauges are wired I have 2x Single SmartCraft junction boxes instead of 1x Dual engine box. Does that mean I will need to ge…

    • 480ce fuel burn difference between engines

This topic has 6 replies, has 5 voices, and was last updated byMatt G 1 year ago

June 20, 2022 at 8:17 pm 2005 Sea Ray 420. Getting a fuel burn of around 14.5 gallons at 2200 on one side and 13.7 on the other. I also noticed the side with the higher burn rate runs a coolant temp of 165 vs the other side at 158. What can I check to see if one is too much or one is not burning enough fuel. Motors are 480ce. Just purchased the boat so upon testing this is what I found. Thanks.Ā

April 25, 2022 at 4:57 pm I recently went over to the dark side and purchased a 2009 boat with Volvo 600 IPS. I am looking for an alternative coolant to use in these engines and Volvo is very tight lipped on specs, their coolant is $32 per gallon. Does anyone have experience with these engines or have an opinion on the subject? I should mention that at this price it is not even available in the quantity I need.

My mechanic said that Prestone green is just fine to top it off with. He is an excellent Volvo mechanic, been to the school and has the software. I topped it off with a pint or so two summers ago and all good. I’m sure you will be fine with the Prestone you used.Ā

He has a three year old Cummins QSC powered boat and was told by the local diesel guru (not a Cummins tech) that these new engines do not need the aftercoolers removed to clean the cores just acid flush the cooling system! Did I miss a memo on this?
