I have a 2008 44 Sundancer  with QSC 8.3 500 HO’s. The port engine has oil filter relocated set up. Filter is mounted on front of engine towards inboard side. This setup has two high pressure hoses that come off filter and two off engine where filter would have been mounted.  Both set of hoses go under engine and connect to 2 pipe (tubes) with hose fittings on them that connect both sets of hoses. These tubes are rusting as well as hose fitting that attaches to pipes. How do I get part number to possibly get replacement tubes and pn of hoses. Thanks

I agree with Dave, they are done.  You could start by trying to source through Seaboard and go from there but can you elimimate the system as David posted?

Is the remote mounted filter really necessary?

On my previous boat with QSC600 engines, I had a similar problem with the condition of the remote pipes and hoses on my stbd engine, so I just removed the lot and mounted the oil filter directly on the engine.  If you can get to the hoses and pipes at the engine to remove and replace them, you should be able to get to an oil filter fitted there.  Not only did removing the remote piping etc tidy up around the engine, it also gave better oil pressure at the engine, very similar to the other engine.  Just something else to think about. Also, I found a very tiny crack in one of the oil pipes where the bracket was welded to the pipes.  See 3rd photo.

It has been several years since I did the replacement and I don’t have the file anymore but I think the tubes were around $700 at that time. You can get a quote from a Cummins dealer with a serial number, I am sure Seaboard could even help. Remember they carry the life blood of your engine and your tubes look fairly rusty to me and the picture looks like the hoses are cracked like mine were.

    8.3 oil relocation tubes.

Thanks Dave. Could you give me rough idea what tubes and hoses cost and if they were in stock?

    8.3 relocation tubes

Thanks Rob.  Here are some pictures. 2 pics are of mirror I used to get a better view. My boat is in Virginia beach until the spring. I will try and degrease and lightly wire wheel them to see how they  look. If not to bad I was considering a rust encapsulation paint and then Cummins paint. Would tubes be better to get from Cummins or SB marine?  Hoses didn’t really to bad themselves, just one or two connections. I was going to see if just surface rust. If not I can change. Boat ran great and no leaks anywhere but I’m navigating back to Long Island in May. I am trying to have zero problems. I came out of a sundancer 35’ with 454’s. From moment I drove this with these engines I was hooked.  I’d rather be preventive the reactive. I am also pulling after coolers and Tranny/ fuel coolers to be serviced and reinstalled. <br />The previous owner did not service them for the last 5 years. Do you recommend removing and servicing heat exchanger?  Coolant is extended life and looks clean. I appreciate any input as I have been told it cheaper to do services each year then to wait for signs of problems.  Thanks again.

I had the same problem on a Sedan Bridge with QSCs and ordered the tube assembly from Cummins with the engine serial number. Pricey and tough to install. As far as cleaning and painting as Rob suggested mine were so bad I did not want to risk an engine. The problem was also on my pre-purchase survey along with cracked hoses leading to the tubes that was hard to see without close inspection.

There are remote oil filter hoses on the site here in the Seabord Store on the Engine Upgrades page.  Or you can take them to a good hose shop like Moreland Hose on Long Island.  Can the tubes be cleaned up and painted or is it beyond cosmetic ?  Got some pics ?
