    • engine/shift port exhaust temperature high alarm

This topic has 2 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated byClark Leighs 2 years ago

July 1, 2021 at 6:09 am I have twin 2013 QSB 6.7 480 HP with 1,100 hrs. On our last offshore trip this alarm went off. Engine temperature was 174 on both engines. Running 2850 RPM. Only thing I can tell you is that it appears the exhaust “smoke” on the port is more than starboard. Thanks in advance for your help.

June 28, 2021 at 11:39 am While out this weekend in Catalina I started the Generator and it ran well for about 10 minutes. It stopped and when I attempted to re-start in ran for 10-15 seconds and stopped. I checked oil level and found a milky grey fluid. The antifreeze and water levels were all good. When I returned home I drained all of the oil out and refilled with fresh and again after a short start of the generator it was a milky grey again. This appears to be salt w…

July 1, 2021 at 4:39 am Are you, changing the filter with each flush? Running the engine? Have you gotten it to full operating temp yet? (The oil takes longer to get to temp than the coolant does.). In your pics it looks like you have good access to pull the rocker cover. I would do that to check for condensed moisture in the overhead.

June 14, 2021 at 7:13 am Seaboard gets a gold star for both the SMX Seawater pump and the SMX highflow 160 thermostat. Was a chore getting the old pump off and the new one in, but I got a chance to run the boat some this past weekend with the new pump and thermostat. She never got above 180 degrees. Before these installs, the boat was running at 195 degrees, which obviously didn’t give me much room for error. FYI – I don’t have much room around the…

Old one was 3 1/2 inches, they want me to do a back pressure test to see if itā€™s ok as is. I looked at a chart that says 3 inch too small for 420 hp. I want a new part. What do you guys think?

May 5, 2021 at 7:08 pm Couple tips to add: If the keyway is at 12 o’clock when you pull the impeller, the key should stay in the pump housing and not fall out. You can turn the ignition key briefly and spin the pump until you get it facing the right direction. For pulling, snap-on part CJ83-3 (around $30) fits the threads and is an excellent puller. I used a hacksaw to cut the unthreaded 1/4″ section off right where the threads start so it can easily threa…
