31 Sportfisher with Cummins 6BT 210HP

Hello All-
I’m looking at a 31 Sportfisher (about 11,000 LB dry weight) boat that is powered with twin Cummins 6BT 210 HP (I believe they are original to the boat 1987). My question is at 420 HP would this boat be underpowered or are these engines adequate for this size boat?

I just got word the that the boat has sold, so it save me a plane ride to Southern California.

My buddy has a late 80’s 31′ Rampage with a tower. It had twin 165 hp Volvo’s, 16-17 knot cruise I recall, it planned, barely. He repowered with twin 300 hp Cummins and now it gets up and goes.

Yes great point about expectation and what I want it to accomplish. For this next boat are #1 looking for reliability. That is a reason I keep looking for Cummins. If it’s not the fastest boat in the world, I’m OK with that. I just want to know what to expect going in… as in expected cruising speeds and reliability. Last thing I want it is to a repower situation right off the bat, when I was not planning for one.

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
For perspective
My 33 Tiara flybridge that I repowered with 6BTA 330hp.
2150rpm gets 20knots
2400 gets 24 knots
Full throttle 2910 29 knots

Boat weight dry factory specs is 12k.
In the sling with fuel and all the gear is 15k.
