May 14, 2019 at 7:28 pm I am interested in replacing my Mercury marine smart craft computer. I have a 2009 Meridian with twin 5.9 cummins diesels. I have been told that because I also have a DTS throttle control system that I cannot replace the smart craft with an after market system. Is that true? What are my options? Thanks, Jon Arnold

September 22, 2020 at 1:19 pm Hi Everyone…Boat is a 2009 Meridian 391 with Cummins QSB 420 diesels. I have had issue with the smart craft display and bogus alarm that said something about paddle speed. The RPMs on the gauge would be sporadic sometimes. The problem I am now having is the Port side of the smart craft gauge and analog tach will go to zero as well as message that says “Lost engine Comm” and all the other items like volts, engine temp, oil press…

    • Fuel shut solenoid not engaging

August 30, 2020 at 9:42 am I replaced a new instrument panel engine was running for about 10 minutes then shut down. When I turn the switch to on the fuel shut off solenoid doesnā€™t close. I checked the voltage going to it and itā€™s only getting 11.8 volts. Voltage at the panel is 13.4v with the switch off and only 12.4v with the switch on. Is this normal?

August 23, 2020 at 11:19 pm Hi All Im looking for any recommendations regarding the above mentioned, erratic rpm readings and sometimes no readings at all on my smartcraft vessel views. most of the time we could be cruising at 2050rpm then all of a sudden rpm will be fluctuating from 0 to 40,000rpm (engines still rev the same) Also happens at neutral 600rpm then any old random number pops up as the rpm. My first thought was could be a bad wire but everything seems fine. …

July 18, 2020 at 12:45 pm Anyone ordered and installed the DigitalView system on their mechanical B series? Thinking about the upgrade and wondering how well they were liked after install. Did you go with the extras such as gear pressure/temp pyro, boost etc? How was it adding that on? My 6BTA 5.9’s with zf220a’s don’t seem to have present provisions for sending units. What hardware was included with the options?

March 28, 2020 at 6:58 am I’m getting a high coolant temp and a low oil pressure alarm when the engine warms up. I’ve confirmed this is not actually happening with a mechanical gauge and an IR temp gun. Also, I have a secondary set of alarms purchased here at Seaboard. I do believe this is ground issue. Any pointers on where to look? Using the voltage drop method with the DVMM is the best way to trace it out? I believe the panel ground goes into the harness …

July 19, 2020 at 6:40 am So… looked through some schematics and saw how it was wired. Instead of chasing the wire loom, I jumped the ground from the negative bus to the ground connection on the IC board. Seems to have fixed the false alarms. Iā€™ll take some voltage potential readings to confirm. The wire loom has some ground connections on the starter that look fine. Suspect connectors or…unused ground for the fuel stop solenoid. D

I isolated the tower control head (being the likely culprit) from the helm unit canbus loop and replaced blown fuse in EEC3 processor. Back in action. Thanks guys. Iā€™m going to determine cost of installing the backup gear/throttle control unit as now I am going to have to purchase a new control head anyway.
