May 1, 2023 at 6:23 pm Hello Everyone, I finally gave up on the mechanical transfer pump, II just cant get it to stop leaking. I decided to go with an electric seachoice 4-7 psi fuel pump. While changing it I decided maybe it would be worth changing out the rectangle fuel filter for a regular spin on. Any reason why not to do this? thanks , Paul

April 28, 2023 at 12:05 am I have had small bubbles in my coolant expansion tank for the past month this past week they have gotten so bad it is now displacing a significant amount of coolant about a full expansion tanks worth. I have done a coolant compression test and. Coolant compression gas test both indicated that I do not have leaks in the head or combustion gasses in my coolant. May 4, 2023 at 6:57 pm All you have to do is LEARN how the lever works that the external  solenoid operates.  Basically you have an “true diesel” that needs NO power to run, only to start.. Your solenoid defeats that.  Learn how it works and then be clever  using “mechanics 101  — There is no kit or diagram..   The solenoid you are dealing with should be similar to the pics attached  but will not be easy to deal with.. It’s kinda buried.

April 2, 2023 at 3:24 am Hi Guys While I have the aftercooler and HX etc off the engine its far easier to pull the impeller (its actually the only way on the port engine being so crammed in cose to the fuel tanks) On pulling the impeller out a chrome ‘cup’ and spring came out.  Now I understand that the DJ pumps pump is similar to the SBmar pump however i have no doubt that it has some Tony tweaks to it.  Looking at the exploded diagram of the pump I found o…

March 29, 2023 at 6:01 pm I’m considering purchasing a boat with QSM11 engines that have already had both turbos replaced due to the heat issues discussed at length in this forum. I see that members have discussed the Wet Exhaust manifold mod that apparently Cummins produced as a modification to these engines to better resolve the excess heat problem (after you’ve ensured the engines are not over-propped) and resultant cracking.  But I can’t find any di…

May 2, 2023 at 4:04 pm Have a 1997 Cummings 6cta 450 diamond series. I recently purchased a enviro vent kit. Reading the directions it says to tap off valve cover. Looking at my motor it looks like the crankcase breather tube comes off the block and goes to a filter before running through a dump hose to the bilge. Can someone please clarify if you remove the factory crankcase filter or connect the Envirovent hose direct to it. Pics are attached to help paint a picture…

April 28, 2023 at 5:17 am Until you have the time to pull the head on the “suspect engine” and assess rust damage, you need to protect the engine as best you can with lots of #2 in the cylinders.  As to the engine that is running, fresh oil and a start up every week or so using fresh water on the seawater side.. If the engines have milky oil, you need to address that. Pull the valve covers and look for water /rust?
