I’m considering purchasing a boat with QSM11 engines that have already had both turbos replaced due to the heat issues discussed at length in this forum.

I see that members have discussed the Wet Exhaust manifold mod that apparently Cummins produced as a modification to these engines to better resolve the excess heat problem (after you’ve ensured the engines are not over-propped) and resultant cracking.Ā

But I can’t find any discussion here from anyone who’s actually gone ahead and modified their QSM11s by changing to the wet exhaust (if it even exists…?) system supposedly offered by Cummins.

Has anyone actually changed over to the wet exhausts, is it an expensive mod, is it relatively easy, and does it actually work…?

Converting from Dry to wet is not really practical……… You’d be better of propping downĀ  to keep you GPH at 2000 RPM under 20 GPH cruise load as you use the boat and maintain the aftercooler in pristine condition.
