Hello, I have twin QSB 5.9L  480hp Im getting a low fuel pressure code on my Console. I have changed the lift pump, both fuel filters one on engine and the racor. Lift pump also have been relocated off the engine. Is there a additional pump and screen? Thanks, Caw

Today Im installing a fuel pressure gauge.

    fuel proplem solved.

After back tracking and tracing 12v vs 24v lift pumps.

Found out my engines require the 24v pumps, not the 12v pumps that superceded the origanl pumps.

Was able to find 2 at Cummins and installed them ,Problem Solved!

You have other issues that you need to sort out…

Your engine is DESIGNED to reach 3470-3480 in neutral and over 3400 in ger fully loaded.

    Answer all below as asked.

Who has been  in control with your prop and or gear  ratio selection?

#1–you need to be sure you are getting 100% throttle–Engine off, display on and it is reading throttle %

#2–You need to confirm your no load RPM  — 3470 is the number–In neutral engine at operating temp

    3#–Record your GPH at 1800, 2000, 2200, 2400, 2600, and 2800 RPM

Something is far from right in your engine prop boat load set-up

    fuel pressure

The fuel pressure from the test ports, Im getting 20psi starboard, and 17 port. In neutral I can rev the engines over 3k and my max rpm getting on plane is 2800 and my max while cruising is 2500 rpm with my drives trimmed up. I have about 2 inchs of throttle with no difference from 2500 to full throttle. (Glenndenning controls. Low fuel pressure has gone away after installing new lift pump that says 12v on it.

Yes Im using the Vessel View 4…

What do you Rec: for control panels

    Thanks for any help,

    Caw

    Fuel Lifts Pumps

    Hello Tony,

I will take some pics today of the ecm.

Questions: When I go to purchase a lift pump and ask are these for the 24v system no one can anwser me.

Is the 12v and 24v Lift pumps the same. Base on my engine ser#60272756 (reman) this what I was sold by cummins #5260632 its says 12v on it. The pump is screaming at me.

My system is a 24v setup.

Im confused which is correct or does it not matter.

I am assuming you have some version Mercury “Smart Crap” electronics?  That could be the issue even without nothing wrong.. Yes, install a fuel pressure gauge on your “on-engine filter”..  Post a good pic of the complete ECM area/ side of your engine so I can ID what you have
