      March 9, 2024 at 9:51 am My long term Rattle Can Experience.   1–Heating the can in hot water to 100-140F makes for a superior spray experience– 2– you cannot over shake 3–keep some real lacquer thinner in a baby food jar–Soak your spray tips in it and then blow them backwards to clean them using an air nozzle   Hope this helps the frustration level some

      October 15, 2023 at 7:44 pm I used this manifold and Seaboard flush out caps to make a system allowing me to flush out my marine engines (QSB 5.9/425) and generator with freshwater, or by using the valves I can suck in antifreeze to winterize them or I can use this to suck water out of the bilge. I pressure tested it with municipal water pressure and there are no leaky valves or fittings. Ā I did highlight the on-off raised letters in black for clarity in the engine room.

      July 4, 2019 at 5:21 am I have twin 4BTAs in my boat and the port engine has always had a lagging behind issue, that I was able to correct somewhat by using the star wheel to reduce spring tension in the aneroid fuel control. But it also has been a weaker engine, seeming to drop more rpm when a single engine was put into gear.       July 18, 2023 at 10:42 am Tom I did get to the bottom of it. I hooked up boost gauges for both engines and my port boost was way down. I put on a new turbo and all was great. I sold the boat last fall and am about to sail a 36 Tiara Open down from The Saint Lawrence River via the Erie Canal. Twin QSB 425s in her.Ā

      August 27, 2021 at 3:45 am Hey everyone, Iā€™m having an issue with one of my engines. The boat is an ā€˜01 Carolina Classic with twin Cummins 4btaā€™s, Cpl 2197. The boat starts and idles fine and will rev fine in the slip with no load. When I try to get on plane the port rpms hang up around 1700 while the stb continue to rise.       April 24, 2023 at 7:22 am Went to check the zinc on the heat exchanger this weekend and the zinc broke off.Ā  Opened up the end cap and the zinc is still in place.Ā  Most of it (90%) is still there.Ā  What’s the best way to remove it to replace it?Ā  Should I try and drill through the bottom of it or is there a better way? I took some time but I designed a bracket that was sandwiched between the block and the front motor mount.       December 7, 2022 at 11:50 am Turbo going on a 450C is unpainted at this point.Ā  I’m thinking the exhaust side I will paint (so it doesn’t rust), but the air side housing is aluminum (and gets real hot)–which means it won’t rust and also means will be difficult to get paint to stick to.       July 31, 2022 at 6:20 pm I have Cummins 4BTAs. There is a hose connected to the rear of the oil pan at one of the drain plug fittings that is capped off. I attach the suction hose from the oil drain pump to that hose to remove the oil.

People with this engine (but different boats) seem to cruise at around 2500 rpm.Ā  In terms of fuel economy my boat seems to have a plateau between 2500 and 3000 rpm (see the attached chart), where the boat is burning about the same amount of fuel per 100km but obviously getting there faster at higher rpm.Ā  My question is if running the engines at about 280…

      July 8, 2022 at 6:23 am I have the same issue, both engines hit the same WOT throttle after spooling. The article doesn’t talk about the issue specifically but it address low power.       May 31, 2022 at 5:51 am Is there any adjust to the in gear idle speed? Mmy idle in both port and starboard in neutral is about 625rpm. When the starboard eengine is placed in gear it drops to about 545rpns and the port drops to about 580.       June 29, 2022 at 6:44 pm 4BT “series” engines are known to shake at idle or just dont like certain low RPMs.Ā  Your 4BTA does have the Bosch P-pump which is an excellent improvement over the CAV pumps on the 150hp version. I dont know exactly how the 4BTA handles the RPMs but I would think you need to be a bit higher to get rid of the roughness. I know with CAV pumps they need to be higher RPM than what you are at.Ā  I would try 600 possibly to see if that hel…
