    Krylon Commercial OSHA WHITE

Rick is this Krylon paint you recommended as bright a white as the regular Krylon spray paint or is it more of an “off white” ?

    Krylon

A perfect match for QSC is Krylon Commercial OSHA WHITE MPN 1800

    Touch-Up

The problem with touching up a small area is that the paint definitely gets a tint over time, especially in the hotter component areas. Ā IMO for touch-up work it does not matter what original color you are trying to match, what matters is what color it is now that you are trying to touch up. Ā Rustoleum has many many off-whites in sprays (canvas white, antique white, shell white) and some, not all, come in the half pint cans for brushing which are very convenient. Ā For touch up work nothing beats the small brush cans and mixing the white and almond you can get any shade you desire for touch up work.

I painted my water pumps with the rust-o-leum cloud white when I rebuilt them a few months ago and it was a brighter white than the rest of the engine.

I see the spray can from cummins is in the $17 range which isn’t that much more than rust-o-leum although I hear ya Tony when you say the rust-o-leum is superior as it certainly was easy to apply and a good finish.

great for painting a whole component but I need something to repair a chip or a small area that matches.

any thoughts on how I get a can of BLANCO?

    Cummins Paint

I found that using a high solids gloss white paint does the trick for me. I have qsm11 engines. The paint I use is from Barnes Distribution Gloss white BD1205. You could get a case of the stuff cheaper than a few cans of cummins paint.

    White & white

To be honest, there is no way to tell without a “visual” as Cummins has 2 different “whites”..Ā  You have a QSC540 (older engine) Ā so my guess would be the older one that called “BLANCO” –Kinda of an off white..

They switched to a “Cloud White” about 5 years ago and Rust-o-LeumĀ  Painters Touch Gloss white is a close to a Ā dead match and is a superior paint to use.

I do not know Cummins Paint numbers,Ā  sorry..

The CPL does not tell you what paint is used..
