Hello, I recently repowered my commercial salmon troller with a working take out low hours cummins 6bt 5.9 210hp. I had a 80hp 4 cylinder John Deere previously. I have 2 questions.

    1. What do people use for the long dipstick for a oil change pump (type that attatches to a bucket top/12v). My john Deere’s dipstick was very short so easy to get to the bottom of the oil pan. The dipstick on the cummins is much longer and extends from the front of the engine over the top down to the pan. I’m guessing people use some type of tubing etc but would need to be able to handle the temp of oil at change time. Suggestions???
    2. My boat’s in bodega bay and I’m not back until 8-2 for next king opener. I don’t have the serial number off the engine but wondering if anyone with the same motor knows what the oil capacity is or factory recommended amount so i have an idea of how much oil to bring up?

I have Cummins 4BTAs. There is a hose connected to the rear of the oil pan at one of the drain plug fittings that is capped off. I attach the suction hose from the oil drain pump to that hose to remove the oil.
