Hi to all and thank you for being here on the forum! I am new and looking for information for kids and tips to relocate my 24 volt starboard mount alternator to the port side of my 6BNA 5.9 12 valve Cummins? Any suggestions and help appreciate it,Ā

    Again, thank you

A few years ago I pulled my 4BTAs from the boat for some rehab and decided to fabricate a new raw water pump system to get away from the sherwood pumps. I took some time but I designed a bracket that was sandwiched between the block and the front motor mount. It is driven by a crankshaft mounted mandrel driving a 40 tooth timing sprocket and a toothed belt with a 52 tooth sprocket on the water pump. No reason you could not adapt that for your needs.

    Project finished

B series belt drive–Injection Pump side

No matter what to try and belt drive on that side on the engine is a true engineering challenge.. In your case, clean up the area in front of the crank and installĀ  dual groove pulley kit.. From there,Ā  it comes down to how clever you are & your in-house fab capabilities.. I always allot an 8 hour day plus materials ( not including the alternator or ?) to do this, and that’s after doing it many times in the past.. In our shop,Ā  that’s about a $2K job minimum.
