October 12, 2023 at 4:15 pm It’s on a commercial 29 ft h&h . Install was done around 2017. Cummins west did the final setup and install. Ā  fault comes on with alarm very consistent. Controls work. Engine runs Perfect shifts and rpm goes up and down with no issues. Smart craft controls. Ā any help and direction would be great.Ā

January 23, 2023 at 10:03 am So it looks like I am changing a lift pump for a 2006 qsc 500. I have not done the job before but know where it is. Some fine engineering there. Any tips on replacing it? I am not to proud to ask for some tips.Ā

November 8, 2023 at 10:24 pm So All these problems went away when the engine computors were swapped and the 12 v power supply pulled off when they were swapped. The wire was recrimped with a new eye and all the problems went away, amazing how those dam electrons work.

February 7, 2023 at 5:31 pm Starting a new thread as the saga continues. Original problem was engine wouldn’t start. Lift pump was not coming on so replaced lift pump. Also serviced aftercooler as it has to be removed for access. Replaced starter solenoid also as it was broken off the mount. Ā Initial startup after all maintenance it started after a few tries. What happens is when you release the start switch it does. Sometimes it doesn’t but always stumbles. Pu…

    • qsm11 aftercooler service?

This topic has 6 replies, has 4 voices, and was last updated bySteve Lewis 3 years ago

October 1, 2020 at 2:50 pm I have been asked to service a qsm11 aftercooler. Access is less than stellar to say the least. I looked at it today. So does the engine heat exchanger need to come off first? Looks like no other way. Any tips to guide through it? I have the seaboard kit and looks like I have everything to do the job. Thanks in advance!

I am sure those would be of great value to others with the QSM and are looking on the site for a How – To on the QSM AC Service. There is plenty on B and C engines. Maybe we could collaborate on a Tony’s Tips article. I am happy to write it……….. How did you clean the core once it was out? Did you pressure test it before you put it back in? I am very in…

August 21, 2020 at 10:08 am Kind of a complicated boat. It has jet drives with the hamilton arrow system installed. I am looking for the cummins side wiring start diagram. It has smart craft and all custom panels but the start side looks to be stock push button start switches. Any help would be great Thanks in advance

July 31, 2020 at 7:30 am Installed a new Seaboard raw water pump in a 2001 mainship. Itā€™s a 330 b series. They sunk the engine in the stringers so nothing is easy. Aftercooler zincs the lower one you have to cut it in half to install it. Getting the pump out everything on the port foreword mount had to come out. Should have been easy Ok rant done. New qsb belt driven pumps are much better

July 21, 2020 at 9:26 am On the water now. Engine died. Getting fuel pressure low center alarm. Engine cranks but does not fire or run. Sounds like a lift pump failure.

July 25, 2020 at 12:32 pm The QSB 5.9 has an odd fuel system ( Cummins variant/design) not Bosch like the 6.7, QSC & QSL.. Elec. pump times out before start but once started, it needs to run 100% all the time or the engine falls on it face or will not run at all. Early on for the 1st few years there was a very high failure rate of these pumps……Also, it is very frustrating to R&R as it’s hidden behind the ECM.

June 8, 2020 at 9:26 pm It seems to be fixed. It was not a new pump but a low hour pump with a new impeller. I know its a good pump though. From yesterday to today the only thing we did was change the o rings on the piping and the pump. Few hours of running with no issues. There was a peace of the impeller on the discharge side also. One of those items was causing the problem I think. So is there audible alarms with smart craft?

April 7, 2020 at 3:03 pm I work on a 35 cabo. It has a large hatch similar to other boats like this. The owner has other fishing friends work on the boat. They could not get the hatch open so they started messing with it. sheared off some solenoid connctions. No luck so far finding parts but have found some whole units on line. The data plate is not legible. well sort of. Anyone evereplace one of these or spec one out?

June 2, 2020 at 6:17 am I requested an inappropriate fittings in light of this bogus data. I saw the issues individuals were having with getting the right fittings. I removed the fitting from the siphon and carried it to a water powered hose shop and it was anything but a SAE #6. The man took out a SAE #6 fitting and contrasted it with what was in the siphon and the SAE #6 was a bigger distance across fitting.

March 24, 2020 at 10:40 pm Got one of the calls I cringe about. Shaft log broken water fitting. Interesting shaft log. Seems itā€™s a traditional packing with raw water fitting on it. March 30, 2020 at 4:01 pm That shaft log looks like an early Riviera, circa mid 90s, as the bilge is painted grey. From about that time on, Rivieras had/have white bilges. I had a ’98 Riviera 36 and then a ’99 Riviera 43. The same design shaft log was fitted to both albeit different sizes for the different shaft size. The water supply is not there to specifically lubricate the packing but more so to lubricate and cool the forward cutlass bearing located i…

August 16, 2019 at 8:10 am I see Seaboard has bronze in line flush fittings for cummins engines. Is there any more sizes available? I’m looking for different barb end sizes. I have a few boats I work on that I would really like to add the ability to flush easier. Most of the boats are live aboards. 1 1/4 ,1 1/2 1 inch. I probably can cobble something together but those bronze fittings are real nice.
