I bought a to good to pass up boat on a auction last fall. It’s newton boat with a 300 hp 3116 cat and a zf 220a transmission. It sat for years. probably 10 at least. It 19 hours total on it. To make a long story short the running gear (shaft and prop) are done. With the lack of zinc and maintenance I am replacing both. It has a l/h 21/20 prop. I have found a very good used prop but it is a 21/20 r/h. I’m going to reverse the input to the transmission to now except the r/h prop. do you see and issues with doing this? It is all manual push pull cables so it’s a really easy to do.

Helm is on the starboard side. Just depends on what side you dock though right? It walked A lot though. won’t change but just be opposite. Was looking for confirmation on my logic. Must be a reason there are many more r/h props out there right???

    Vessel Name: Paumalu
    Engines: Cummins 6BT 180 hp
    Location: where the fish are!
    Country: United States

Youā€™ll often find that the side of the boat that the helm is on is the side to which the prop walks, and will be the favored docking side, due to visibility advantage.
Hopefully this wonā€™t cause problems for you!

Yes that’s the plan. So many more options with r/h props out there.

Should be as easy as that. You will reverse the cables at the helm binnacle.
