May 22, 2021 at 7:58 pm Iā€™m installing a running takeout QSC 540 into my boat and found the dimensions I used to set up the engine beds to be off it seems. Dropped the motor into the boat last night and had to set it on blocks as the front beds seemed way too low. There seem to be spacers between the engine bracket, this a factory part as I plan to take them out. Two, I see an arrow pointing up on the mount but it would be beneficial for me to flip these upside down. I…

May 23, 2021 at 5:03 pm Thank you everyone for confirming this. Engine was dropped into the boat two nights ago and today I spent some time gathering up the tools and supplies to assemble the gantry in the wheelhouse to lift and shift the engine around. After some measuring today Iā€™m 3/8 high on the gear end and have to shift the rear a good inch to port so looks like I may have to notch the stringer to clearance the fuel cooler and fittings on it.

March 2, 2021 at 12:52 pm I have a relatively new to me (1 year) express with twin Cummins QSB 380hp engines. Last season I had a couple WIF alarms, but never found any evidence that there was any significant amount of water in the fuel. I never had any water to drain off from the racors, never had any running issues with either motor and at the end of the season when I changed the racor filters they were very clean. Knowing the potential damage water can do to these e…

March 3, 2021 at 2:45 pm I made the switch last year. I just utilized the squeeze bulb primer and pushed fuel through the Double Double, into the new on engine filter and then through the remainder of the on engine fuel system until hearing a steady stream of diesel dropping back into the tank through the return line. Another dozen squeezes for good luck and the engine fired right up without even a hiccup.

October 25, 2020 at 11:02 pm George: On a severe overheat anything is possible. The possibility of it being an aftermarket head is scary as well due to there being some very low quality chinese parts floating around for these engines now. Exhaust manifold is another very good possibility. Only downside is there is no great way to test them without removing or replacing them. If that is not the culprit you are back to block or head. Before I go out and buy new batteries I would like to get more knowledge on this. First what is the best way to test the batteries to see if I do in fact need new batteries? What is the average life of 8Ds? and Do I need to replace them all at once or can I just get one at a time new?
