    • Help Please! 6bta 370 Envirovent Collapsed

This topic has 4 replies, has 4 voices, and was last updated byTony Athens 4 years ago

September 1, 2019 at 9:23 am I am about 4 hours from home and Starboard dropped rom to 1800 rpm and wonā€™t exceed it. Started getting some black smoke. Installed envirovent system at beginning of this year. Engine room is clean, air filters were clean and red. Starboard has turned solid black, collapsed in on itself and oil catch bottle is sucked in. Engine is starving. How can this happen? What is going on, next steps?

August 21, 2019 at 5:04 am WIF sensor — It would be located in the collection bowl, you would know if you had it – a sensor screwed into the bowl with wires/harness coming out of it. Brad, not sure what definitive answer you are looking for — as to OEM engine alarms on a mechanical 6BTA it’s low oil psi and high coolant temperature, that it’s. There is the low voltage alarm at the PCB. And then anything else could have been added aftermarke…

April 20, 2019 at 3:55 pm Hi guys, 6bta Cummins, i am installing Envirovent to stop my air breathers from puking oil… see the amount of oil that poured out upon removing air filter. Not sure how these engines were breathing. The walker sep had a small oil line On the very back, i believe it is an oil line draining back into the oil pan through a small filter. This kit came with no instructions. Just parts, I never like to see that but it seems pretty self expla…

May 14, 2019 at 11:25 am It’s a few weeks late but maybe someone looking for the information may come across it. The plug size to remove the entire drain back line is 9/16 SAE or know as a -6 ORB plug. I bought one from my local hose and clamp shop but you can find them on Amazon or Ebay. Remove the line when you do an oil change and pan is empty. Asking for a -6 ORB plug is probably the simplest way to describe it.

    • Envirovent Turbo Whine

April 28, 2019 at 2:44 pm Hi guys! We just upgraded to your envirovent system on our Cummins 6bta motors. We took the boat out today and was struck with excessive turbo whine up on the bridge. The wife, guest and I were all wore out with it quickly and ultimately had to throttle down to a lower rpm as the constant whine began very annoying quickly. What did the walker air sep system have that mitigated the noise or what is causing the envirovent to pronounce or eleva…

February 20, 2019 at 7:42 pm I purchased Sbmars raw water service kit, aftercooler and heat exchanger. My boat is stored indoor heated so they are not winterized. Do I need to drain the system somewhere before unbolting aftercooler and heat exchanger?

February 21, 2019 at 8:31 am The size of your catch can will be dictated 100% by the access you have under the drain. Could be stringer or ?? in the way of getting lucky and using a 5 gall bucket. May need smaller buckets that you empty into larger ones. Capacity depends on external things you may have in the coolant loop such as bus heater, water heater…. Will be 6+ gallons. 50/50 should be fine but verify this works for your climate. 65 degF and manned every day, …

January 20, 2019 at 6:10 pm I bought a 2004 Meridian 411 with Cummins 370 6bta motors that are now showing around 1300 hours in the summer of 2018. The boat seems to run good however i have begun cleaning it up and making it mine by doing following suggestions and upgrading/fixing apparent problems. Now bare with me, this is my first diesel and I am learning as much as i can while often asking silly questions. I started doing some maintenance work yesterday and during th…

February 9, 2019 at 3:49 pm My turbos on my 370s look about the same. I have no external leaks though. After reading on here my next upgrade is the CCV systems (and 160 thermostats).

January 20, 2019 at 7:09 pm My turbo is leaking oil, is this a bad seal? Can this be rebuilt and does SBMAR offer this service? Also, after pulling the air filter i found the intake is full of oil, and there is this foam like material on the plastic intake tube. Is this normal? Shouldnt this be clean? Is this dried oil or is it suppose to be a foam liner that is saturated in oil? It seems to wipe off. The air filter itself seems to be coated in oil also. The boat …

September 17, 2018 at 2:58 pm 11.5MDKAW-2323 2004 Boat build I am just arriving back from another amazing weekend trip, About 30 minutes out from our home marina a guest asked if we could fire the generator to recharge some phones. I happily fired her up and it ran until we arrived at our dock. I began closing up the bridge and when I flipped off all the lights I noticed a red glow from under the dash. I donā€™t recall a light being down there, I look under the dash and find o…

September 30, 2018 at 12:39 pm Brad, In your hose separation, the raw water flow sensor would still have sensed flow, as the hose separated downstream of the sensor. While you are looking at your gen set, change out the fore mentioned flow sensor as it shows signs of corrosion. On mine, it literally fell off as the body was so corroded. Luckily this happened while I was doing maintenance last winter. As Rob stated, you still should have had 2 alarms (sources of shutdown) bein…

July 19, 2018 at 6:29 pm Boat: 2004 Meridian 411 6bta 370hp 1200hrs Boat has been freshwater last few years, previously salt. It is moving to large freshwater body. I flew down to the boat and met with my surveyor today. I think all in all things went pretty well. There are about 100 small things (typical maintenance items, some deferred maintenance and some previous salt water related items) that need addressed but I negotiated a great price in advance. I went there t…
