Thanks for the Replies.
I have new temp sensors, and digital gauges. Actually i have converted my mechanical 6bās to nmea 2000. So watching the temps I am not getting any erratic readings, temps are around 180 if i recall.
As for the WIF, i felt like I knew my way a round but this one is new on me. Where is this located? I have racors mounted externally.
Are there any other alarms on a 6b? I am getting a lot of random thoughts via different sites.
Does anyone have a definitive?
April 21, 2019 at 12:19 pm #68113Thank you tony, it appeared to be gone in the image but I was skeptical since the kit did not contain a plug. Seems odd to source that one part when everything else is included in the conversion kit. Would you mind sharing what size plug is needed? I assume a Napa May carry such a plug.
April 21, 2019 at 3:52 am #68104From what I have found the line in question seems to be the drain line with the notorious sticking check valve. The kit seems to be complete with everything needed to do this job, including wire ties so Iām thinking this line is not to be capped off. Maybe Iām supposed to loop it back to the factory vent pipe and not cap that one? Iām sitting bye waiting for direction, I certainly do not want to do anything wrong.
April 20, 2019 at 5:19 pm #68099Also, just Installed wolverine pad heaters too. You mention removing 10amp blade fuse to disable grid heater, the only One I can find behind aftercooler is a purple 3 amp blade fuse. Pretty sure this is that connection. Everything lines up, is there a 3 amp back there and I am missing the 10amp?
April 20, 2019 at 5:12 pm #68094Hi tony.
See attached. I am servicing aftercooler currently. Came apart easily.
Yes I have the front cover filter.
I read what I could find, but nothing I found addresses this line from the back of the walker air sep.
The line is blue, disconnected in the pic and runs to back if oil pan, appears to have a small filter. What am I doing with this, or did i just blatantly miss this in your articles.
While you are here, this look decent on turbo. There is no play in the shaft. Itās tight.
February 21, 2019 at 8:16 am #58866Rob,
Do I drain into a bucket? What size bucket is needed. Iām not sure on the capacity. Can the coolant be reused or should it be replaced, can you advise as to the mixture and capacity.
Sorry for all the questions, I want to get this right during my first experience.
As for not winterizing I too thought it seem risky but they building is manned every day, temps are kept at 65 degrees and they have back up heat and power. I must say, it is nice and toasty in there.
January 26, 2019 at 5:01 am #55455I am installing the envirovent systems today. What can I clean the airside of the turbo with to remove all the oil?
January 22, 2019 at 10:47 am #54973Check to make sure it is oil, it may be belt dust. I have noticed on ours we get a good bit of black in the area that is from the belt.
January 21, 2019 at 5:28 pm #54905Thank you for all the replies. I have heeded the advice and order 2 kits of the envirovent systems as well as a full raw water service kit.
I take if from all the replies here that the oil leaking from the turbos in my pictures may be actually coming from the intake side being full of oil and the turbos do not need a rebuild kit. That cost offsets the ccv kit so im in the same position with a better ccv setup.
I will post updates after i have some time running.
January 20, 2019 at 9:29 pm #54749Tony,
You may have not seen all the photos, or i am not following how the intake side issues are causing this leak on the exhaust side of the turbo.
Is this just excess oil being ingested and leaking out the back side? Pardon my ignorance. I just want to figure out what I need to be addressing so that I can fix any issues prior to relaunch of the boat. This oil leak is obviously a problem.
January 20, 2019 at 8:31 pm #54745Thank you Tony. I had originally written a lengthy post inquiring about if this was indeed due to the CCV issue as i have read about it here on your site. For some reason that thread disappeared so i rewrote this. Is the foam like substance oil and not supposed to be there?
Can you advise on the turbo leaking oil and let me know if this is a rebuild that is needed ( do you offer this service )or if the turbo is leaking oil due to it ingesting it on the intake side.

Joplin, we spoke recently on the meridian forums. We too have some overheating going on and new impellers are going in tomorrow.
What do new cores cost? I am hoping this boat does not offer up lots of problems to start. We could use a break from problematic boats as we have owned one perfect one and one problem prone one. I wouldn’t mind spending my weekends enjoying the boat vs having to turn wrenches all the time.
Rob, I also suspect that we are just squeaking out the top rpm. I plan to get the boat loaded up, fueled up and then do some assessments. Unfortunately i don’t suspect the seller will be paying for much. I negotiated a great price and did not plan to ask for much other then it properly running at this time. I will make adjustments over time. I need to address alot of issues, i have never lived on salt water or owned a salt boat. There are a lot of rust / corrosion issues that need cleaned up. Luckily my new marina has a 60* heated storage building that will allow me to work on boat during the winter. I plan to start with the survey list and work my way through. I just want to get through the end of this season without any immediate repairs.
July 19, 2018 at 6:33 pm #35019I am wating on the surveyors photos but one other area of concern, both turbos have black sooting on the top looking down near the forward flange. That is the best i can do in explaining, is that common? An exhaust leak / blown or worn out gasket?
