    • Zero oil pressure on 6BTA

This topic has 2 replies, has 2 voices, and was last updated byHenry Martin WILSON 14 hours ago

May 5, 2024 at 7:02 am I have a Meridian 408 with 6BTA Diamond Series engines (2004 year model). When I pulled into my slip six weeks ago, I had 20 PSI of oil pressure on my starboard engine at idle before I shut it down (I always keep records). When I started the engine for the first time yesterday, the gauge showed zero oil pressure and the alarm continued to sound so I shut it down. Since the oil pressure gauge and the alarm are on two separate senders, I have to a…

May 5, 2024 at 1:36 pm I installed a mechanical tach. Verified that there is no oil pressure. The needle did not wiggle, and no oil entered the pressure tube. Someone suggested that the oil pump drive could have sheared, is that som000ething that happens? I’ve never heard of that. Any suggestions welcomed.   Thanks,   Martin0

May 5, 2024 at 6:12 am Have you compared speed at a given rpm now vs then? This might seem like semantics to you but to say you are down on speed is wrong, that would suggest you are making rpms but lost a few knots.Ā  What you have is a power/rpms issue: Understanding Low Power Troubleshooting

    • 6CTA – Turbo Dripping Oil

April 26, 2024 at 7:08 am First time I noticed this was after putting the boat back in the water yesterday and going for a long ride to test temps out after servicing the Aftercoolers per Tony’s method. Ā  There was oil ontop of the transmission which seems to be coming from the Turbo. The oil is clean and looks new so it must be from my recent oil change which is why I believe this is a new thing that happened yesterday.Ā  Ā  Ā

April 18, 2022 at 8:11 am After the thorough information and write-ups from Tony and the SBMar team, and the readily available parts kits they supply, I decided to tackle my aftercoolers this year.
