    What does this sender sense and where does the signal go?  I can read the word “sender” on the unit but the rest is faded and smudged.

    I’m attaching a stock photo with the sender circled and also a photo of the one installed on my engines.

    it is a mechanical tachometer drive that you are not using for anything–It also can be used to drive old- school mechanical engine syncronizers ( typically made by Glendinning).
