September 30, 2022 at 4:48 am IMO, the only real answer is to learn the system yourself , or hire a tech that knows the system.. The ZF manuals are quite good.Ā

    • Onan genset and 45 error

November 12, 2020 at 1:25 pm Hello guys. Have replaced last week worn out fuel camshaft on one Onan with Kubota V2403 engine, and now,as usually goes,it starts, runs few seconds, and shuts down with that error. I know that usually means winding damaged or controller unit, but in this case genset worked fine, before this “operation”. It starts sometimes also difficult, like it has air in system, but i bleed it directly on injectors above. I will try to check winding re…

June 26, 2020 at 9:37 am Hello. I am working on one Bertram boat from 60′,history bit of a mystery, and have noticed that gears are engaging “backwards”,that means, when i put lever in forward, really gearbox is in reverse,on both engines. Boat has Morse dual lever station with cables,MT 3 model i think, and there i don’t see really that i can change something.. Am i not seeing something? Owner did told me that props are correctly installed,on gearb…

Boat runs okay, still big unknown as for engine output,or any other infos, beside that is obsolete Mitsubishi 6D14 engine,we did small seatrial, and it was fine. Engine tick over was quite hard, mean when enganging in gear, boat was moving faster, blame was that idle was around 800rpm’s. I did readjust on port engine at 650 rpm’s,but now owner is saying that…

July 5, 2019 at 9:33 am Hello guys! I did replace shaft seal for new one, similar like PSS system, and have some worries about seawater cooling for shaft seal. It is a sailboat,it has small Yanmar engine in it,and i did found for me perfect spot for connecting hose to shaft seal, and did put also small valve on this pipe,so i can close it when replacing impeller or other works. Connection is on pipe which goes from seawater pump to heat exchanger. But engine lies just bit…

February 20, 2020 at 10:02 pm Tony’s crew installed the 3/8s nipple fitting for the water feed to the PSS shaft on the distal (aft) end of the heat exchanger. Easy enough to braze a nipple into the bronze end cap and it’s a short piece of hose from there to the shaft seal nipple. The water feed is behind the dry riser. One advantage is the cooling water has passed through the whole SWAC first for max engine cooling before being shunted off to wet lube the shaft s…

I just make sure I order a good qty of items to make the postage cost a bit more bearable šŸ˜ The cost of Cummins parts is frightening here.. like I said the 6bta orings are 117aud or 72euro each and I need 4 for a service to both engines.. so it’s definitely worth my trouble… šŸ˜ Steve

November 28, 2019 at 10:52 am Hello Tony. I was thinking for spray pattern like usual testing on older type of injectors, but if you are saying that not necessary, then better to leave it be. Its just precaution to say so,to check some engine parts. Today i receive oil sample analysis, and oil is good for further use,and nothing seriuos found in oil, thats good. Thank you.
