MatthewParticipantYes,on my pump is also housing worned like on your photo, sorry for not taking better photos..
It has low pressure, too low that works as it should yes, that’s why if you can reply on email with estimate with super urgent shipping would be greatly appreciated.
Later on i need to drain, clean, flush oil system, but this will be on when i know new pump is on the way, will have time to do it.
One more question, probably will be chalenging to install it good, because inside there is that small middle piece, coupling let’s say so,that seats between pump and gearbox drive, any tipps how to install it safely?
Thank you.

MatthewParticipantHello Tony. I did remove pump today,it has three M8 bolts, did start up engine, drive is turning good with engine idling.
Did left pump at guys at hydraulic shop to open it up,inspect it and bench test it somehow,to see if is okay.
Thank you for reply, kind of you.

MatthewParticipantI did try today to remove solenoid, did engage emergency override to have gear, started engine, but nothing happened.
Have also removed valve, check that is not dirty or clogged, looks fine..Seems that gearbox doesn’t have pressure,Tony where are you, give me some input if can be done something before condeming gearbox, maybe to test oil pump if possible?Ā
Much obliged!

MatthewParticipantHello Tony,how are you?
Please see photo attached of old engine, new setup is the same, with new original Yanmar engine mounts, old one skipper throw away, that’s why i don’t know previous setup or height of engine itself.

MatthewParticipantVolvo D6 is for sure in mainteinance far more expensive, and it has parts like aftercooler that are not serviceable like Cummins, you can clean it once, next time no way, because they are fresh water cooled, and if not using original Volvo coolant(60L),and changing it every 2 years, this aftercooler getc clogged up,and engine starts to overheat.
Price for new one is also big one,and in general,Volvo parts are expensive. I am working also with Volvo, but if you can choose between Volvo and Cummins,Cummins is better option for boat owner.

MatthewParticipantThank you Tony, you know your bussines. That looks great, for sure, then i need to measure first when shaft removed which size that tooling needs to be,so that seats perfect inisde.
That bushing seats inside in gearbox flange correct?

MatthewParticipantHello. Please see photos attached, don’t have more of them.

MatthewParticipantHello Tony. Thanks for reply.
Yes,i am also thinking that is just bedding in,but i don’t have lot of experience with stuffing box, usually i am switching those things to PSS or Tides Marine style shaft seals.
And with this one,i did have also problem getting packing material, originaly inside was like white packing material, not sure which material, now i have put graphite cotton stuff,it was greasy from start, was only material that was fitting to that stuffing box, maybe has something to do it as well.
This is italian brand, original packing material i can get from september,it is annoying.
Also one question more, how to check shaft alignment with such system, pass through gearbox, and tight space in the front where is coupling?

MatthewParticipantHello guys. Diver did swap props, now is back to normal, appreciated your advices.
Boat runs okay, still big unknown as for engine output,or any other infos, beside that is obsolete Mitsubishi 6D14 engine,we did small seatrial, and it was fine.
Engine tick over was quite hard, mean when enganging in gear, boat was moving faster, blame was that idle was around 800rpm’s. I did readjust on port engine at 650 rpm’s,but now owner is saying that cold starting is pour.
Starboard engine if i drop revs around 700 rpm’s,starts to shake quite a lot, that engine also smokes more, and it smells like unburnt fuel. But this is now up to owner, and possible winter works.
Once again, thank you for your help, really glad to be a part of this community.
