      November 16, 2023 at 5:05 am Hi – Iā€™m backā€¦   my QSM just rolled past 4700 hours after 7 years of use. Ā It had been well maintained, has no leaks or smoke and runs strong/no issues. Ā Iā€™d like to keep it that way! Turbo and exhaust manifold were proactively replaced at about 2700 hrs, injectors were tested/rebuilt Ā at 2000 hours, planning on the same this winter.       January 28, 2017 at 4:59 am Is there a chart that gives an idea of the temperatures a Ā QSM11 Ā 670 hp should run at? I know the thermostats open at 160 degF and mine get to about 175 @ 22knots 70% load but lately have been creeping toĀ about 178- 180 .At what temps should I start to worry about doing the Heat Exchangers?

Just stay on course with what ever you are doing now.. . If you wanted, you could get a 180-185 Stat and make things a tad more efficient and keep the oil cleaner if you were into oil analysis..

      October 25, 2022 at 10:51 am My 2016 QSM 11 now has 3945 hours on it. Ā At what point do I consider rebuilding the raw water pump and for that matter, the coolant pump. Ā No issues or signs of issues, my yard swaps in a new impeller each winter. <br />also, I canā€™t find a QSM rebuild kit in the store, does one exist?

      October 25, 2022 at 5:48 pm Different Cummins engine.Ā  This is general for any RWP. I put on about 150 to 200 hrs yearly andĀ  rebuild my RWP everyĀ  5 yrs. IĀ  don’t put on nearly the hours in 5 years you do but time also matters. One engine has been rebuilt, the head on the other swapped and the props detuned to the 450 fuel curve. Should I have them serviced this off season or should they be good to go another season.

      November 18, 2021 at 7:19 pm I put 6-700 hrs per year on my engine and religiously have AC and HE serviced every 2 years. This is how my AC looked after 1400 hrs/2 years. I do not flush the engine with fresh water, the boat is in salt water from late March till early December. Tony can probably dig up pictures of what my old AC looked like in 2012 with no service in 5 years/500 hours.. You really want to be over servicing as opposed to under servicing them!

There is a fuel temp sensor and reading on my Vessel View, I donā€™t know where the sensor is in the fuel system, nor do I ever monitor it to see what itā€™s reading says. I will find out where it is/what itā€™s reading and Will monitor it this summer to help me in making the right decision. The fuel cooler on a QSM is monstrous and makes for a painful impeller change!

      December 13, 2020 at 12:32 pm Donā€™t worry about the exhaust manifold as much as whether after 4 years the AC and HX have been serviced. If not your in luck, just negotiate the cost of servicing them off the purchase price and have them done this winter and while they are off, have a mechanic remove the heat shield to examine the exhaust manifold.
