Question: My CT6A 480 aftercoolers and heat exchangers were serviced 2 seasons ago. 450 hours during that time. One engine has been rebuilt, the head on the other swapped and the props detuned to the 450 fuel curve.

Should I have them serviced this off season or should they be good to go another season.

This is what 2 years looks like

I put 6-700 hrs per year on my engine and religiously have AC and HE serviced every 2 years.

This is how my AC looked after 1400 hrs/2 years. I do not flush the engine with fresh water, the boat is in salt water from late March till early December.

Tony can probably dig up pictures of what my old AC looked like in 2012 with no service in 5 years/500 hours..

You really want to be over servicing as opposed to under servicing them!

The boat operates in the middle Chesapeake. Somewhat brackish

Based on your location I’m thinking you could be slipped in brackish water. If that’s the case you can usually extend the service interval a bit. What was the timeframe and conditions found on the servicing 2 seasons ago?

If in saltwater and you do not flush—————–Yes on the aftercoolers
