June 5, 2019 at 3:54 pm I just had my 6BTA props repitched, and now I’m happy to say I’ve gone from 2800 WOT to 2950 WOT. So now what should I shoot for in terms of cruise RPM? I come up on a good plane around 2200 or so.

August 29, 2022 at 5:55 pm I have a 315 6bta with the denso pump. I am propped to make 2950 easy. Assuming I am also safe to cruise 2100-2400 (the range Tony cites above), aside from the added fuel burn modestly decreasing engine life, is there any other concern cruising at the higher end of this range (2350-2400)? I’ve historically stuck to 2100-2200ish. I have the 160 stat and SMX redundant temp alarmed for 190 and the water flow alarm at my mixer. I don’t have an EGT …

November 9, 2019 at 12:39 pm So after cleaning the aftercooler core I wanted to pressure test it for leaks before assembling the aftercooler. I saw a picture of the way Seaboard tests them but I wanted something I could hook up quickly since I have 2 aftercoolers to test. I thought I would share my cheap and easy design . ABS 4″ pipe with a 5″x4″ reducer, end caps, with one end tapped with a female air fitting and valve so I can regulate the air pressure.…

November 3, 2019 at 10:39 am I am about to do winter upgrades on both my engines (6BTA 370HP) — I read the post that removing the old Sherwoods will require a slight lift of the engine. Assuming I use the new SeaBoards as replacements will I in the future have to lift the engine or will the SMX1730 slide right in?

My inverter is a multi-stage charger so it keeps them charged with out over charge. My older onboard charger stays off unless I have gone through a real deep discharge. Then its on only until batteries are at full charge then off. As Rob said better deal unless hard to get to.

As you can see the impeller can only come out 3/4 of the way due to the fuel hose that comes off of the fuel filter and goes to the injection pump? (Bosch). December 21, 2018 at 10:49 am Kevin, I see you had the issue with the impeller blades expanding inside the case as you push the impeller in. I’ve found that the easiest way to deal with that is to remove the top hose flange (hose to the fuel cooler). That exposes the interior of the case, and you can bend the blades as needed when you push in the impeller.
