I have Cummins 6bta 315hp. The starboard throttle creeps back when underway, and has a little spring back just above idle speed. Is there an adjustment that I can do to stiffen up the throttle?
    Thank you

A better pic attached of what you have…………………….Basically Cummins came up with an extended arm and “balance spring” to operate the throttle on the ND injection pumps.. It “kinda works” but in many cases you have to play the the tension of the balance spring or add a small 2nd spring to take out some of the “balance…..This is something you just need to learn and modify as needed to make it work for you…………..no other way..

Some people have resorted to adding more friction the the control head or using “rusty or kinked cables”..

Post a real good picture of the “throttle cable-mechanism” you have………….There is more than one type of system Cummins used.. Need to “see” it all..

Had same problem with 6 BTA

Engines 2000 Hrs. Found stiff spring inside throttel lever mechanism was actually broke. Could not see this without removing lever for close inspection. Replaced lever works like new.
