Hi Todd, nothing really special that you need to change filter often.Ā  This is simply a good additive.Ā  I change my primary racor every time I fill up.Ā  In my mind, it $10 on a $300 tank full of diesel.Ā  Some people think I am nuts, which I am, but I have done this for years and never have a fuel issue.

I also am religious about Power Service and it has worked very well for me.

Maybe we see each other on the high seas.Ā  Happy Thanksgiving.

Get a new one!Ā  Going through all that, and put the old one on?Ā  I swapped mine out last year and got a ton of stuff from Tony.Ā  Now I never have to worry, or for a while.Ā  And, I fresh water flush every time.Ā  Don’t get lazy!

Can’t beat new and you know what boat means right!Ā  Start fresh.Ā  Don’t forget the gear cooler!

Hi Todd, Power Service makes a great diesel treatment for all weather here on the East Coast.Ā  They have what you need.Ā  Keep in mind always change the Racor or whatever primary filter you have often.Ā  But I have had great success with Power Service and you will not be able to talk me away from in.Ā  Check them out.Ā  Sold at the local Auto storesĀ  I am a EC guy, Tashmoo on Martha’s Vineyard.Ā  Those warm weather west coast guys, man, the life right!

    Hi Tony,

Are the 28Mt starters you sell for the 6BT new ones from Delco?Ā  Funny, I saw something that said the 28Mt was discontinued.Ā  Thanks in advance.

Thanks to you both. I will study up on this for sure. I do not do a lot of sitting around with the engine off and running the electronics. Not really a cruise boat, more fishing and hauling gear. But it lot of that can be idle time. Will keep investigating. Boat is in the winter cradle now, so a great spring project.

    Happy new year.

Thanks Bill. I will got with the lower side and mark the stick. Make me laugh, stick with no marks, does that make any sense?

    Thanks again.

My Cummins 6BT has an unmarked dip stick. Will change my oil and figure about a quart into the filter. I think I read that the engine takes 13 to 15 quarts. There is a siphon hose to suck the oil out, should I figure some will stay in the sump? With a stick with no marks and a filter with one quart should I go on the 13 quart side? I don’t want to over fill by any means. I then could mark the stick at the 13 quart mark, right? What ya think?

    Thanks, John

    Hi James,

I use Barnacle Buster in my engine once a year. West Marine. You can see a lot of info on a web site that sells a nice funnel to help, Sea Flush. This runs through the raw water strainer and the junk that comes out is amazing! Check it out. Good luck.

Have you checked your turbo. Is it free spinning when you reach your hand in there and spin the turbine. Should be free. I sometimes had issue with a stuck one on a Yanmar. Little spin and she would be good to go. Always let the boat cool down before shut down. Helps with the turbo and oil in the bearing.

    Hi Tony,

I just posted another question regarding the Sherwood M-71 pump. Area around it is not bad but it seems to be the type of pump that needs to be removed in order to change impeller. No cover plate. So, any help would be great. Thanks so much.
