August 14, 2022 at 6:14 am Best to drop Corey at note with a detailed chart showing the differences. Do you have a generator? On my own boat, single QSB 6.7 550 engine with an average of 90-160 gallons between top-offs, it’s amazing close.Ā

September 6, 2020 at 10:51 am Hi Tony and gang. I chimed in on another thread involving this torsion coupler but I don’t want to stomp on his thread with my issue so I started my own her So I have recently started to see remanence particles which I believe to be my torsion coupler going bad. I had my dock mate on the boat this morning who just went through this and he thinks the same thing. He told me it looks like there is more than enough room to complete this task w…

September 7, 2020 at 2:44 pm Thank you for the reply Tony, I pulled the inspection screen off and I believe mine to be the Centa CFR. I have a few offshore trips this week that consist of a 2.5 hour run each way and now knowing I have this occurring, it makes me a bit nervous going. I have not seen any performance issues. Should I address this immediately ? Thanks once again for your help. Greg

    • 480CE RPM jumps 100-200 every now and then ? 1 2

June 13, 2020 at 5:05 pm Hello all, 2003 Carolina Classic 480CE I have searched the forum here and google and have found similar issues of rpm dropping but my hiccup is it jumps up some. I have had this problem on and off for a year now, it comes and goes. It will not do it at idle in the slip. It happens when i’m trolling at low rpms I turned my engine sync off and have isolated it to the starboard engine 100%. Racors are checked daily as I charter the boat an…

June 23, 2020 at 6:13 pm Well I’m happy to say, 2 full days with ZERO hiccups in the RPM’s jumping around I am confident the issue was a bad connection at the engine harness Thanks all for chiming in And another big Thank you to Tony pointing me in the correct direction Greg

    • RPM's fluctuate a bit when trolling

May 9, 2019 at 10:34 pm Hi all, 2003 6CTA 480CE So I noticed today while trolling @620 Rpms 6 knots, I noticed my engine speed bumped up a few different time by about 150 rpms, then would drop back about a minute later. It did this about 6 times total over 5 hours. Only thing I did different today was run the fridge on DC power. Other than that, boats runs perfect any input would be appreciated Thanks Greg

February 8, 2019 at 7:25 pm Hi all. So I have had my boat since early September, the previous owner was not running her much so I have been working on cleaning up the crap in the tanks. After purchasing the boat ” 35 Carolina Classic ” I purchased 12 primary filters because i knew i’d blow through them, and I have. 1st thing I did was have my main tank polished, we removed a fair amount of crud, pumped tank out and inspected with scope and look really g…

December 31, 2018 at 5:46 pm Question, I’ve owned my boat for about 4 months now, upon delivery port engine was rebuilt and NEW aftercooler was installed. Today I thought I would check on the zincs, Starboard top aftercooler zinc was like 85% there. Port top new aftercooler zinc was just a square nut with no zinc on it at all ?? Contacted the mechanic who has previously done the work on the boat and he explained to me the top one is not really necessary and in his opi…

January 1, 2019 at 5:17 am Well I guess you do doubt him or you would not have brought the question here for other opinions …no harm in that. I do agree that the top zinc is “almost” useless but I do not agree that it has any ill effects and should be left out.

November 11, 2018 at 11:56 pm Hello all, So I have a 2003 Carolina Classic 35 with Cummins 6cta 480ce that I bought a few months ago and I have been going through the boat fixing, cleaning upgrading ectā€¦ So from day one and even on sea trial I asked about these several drops of oil below my Walker Air filters. This has been bugging me about oil dripping out of them, sometimes iā€™ll noticed maybe a teaspoons worth and sometimes just a few drops depending on how often I checked…

October 17, 2018 at 5:01 am Hello all, I have a 03 35′ Carolina Classic that I’ve owned now for a few months. Cummins 6CTA 480CE engines and I’m considering block heaters. I see some have used the heater pad that sticks to the bottom of oil pan and some who use actual block heaters. Any advice on which route to take would be great, I live in Virginia beach so we do get cold weather but nothing like you all up north Thank you

July 19, 2018 at 8:36 am Hello all, I have a deposit on a 2003 CC35 powered with 480CE bearing a solid sea trial. Kinda ironic thing here, so bear with me, but I think youā€™ll all enjoy this. Once i put deposit down and before for that matter i have done nothing but put time in researching these engines. I found this thread here. 2003 35 Carolina Classic with 480CEā€™s – Things to look for? And it is the same boat, I have actually spoken to Allen , the previous guy…
