February 11, 2021 at 3:09 pm #110235Are your throttles controlled by a potentiometer ?
If so, check your connections, I had a similar issue and once I cleaned my connections, all problems went away

January 12, 2021 at 10:28 pm #108919I can send some pictures but if you look at the install photos that Tony has put up, my install is to the tee of that, the install was 4th grade level.
January 6, 2021 at 2:59 pm #108719I also just replaced my Walker airseps with Tony option and it was a simple install and I am very happy as well.

October 25, 2020 at 6:12 pm #105673HA, Just noticed that the link above is about my Boat and why I did not go with block heaters
I was in your position a few years ago and I ended up with the wolverine oil pan pads, 250 watters and I tell ya what, they work great !!!!!! all that heat transfers up, My engine room is warm to the touch in the dead of winter.

September 20, 2020 at 8:26 pm #104061Be here done this.
You will need to be persistent at the primer button on engine, The first time I changed mine I had no issue, this year when I did mine, I had the same problem as you, they both started then crapped out, starboard side primed up really hard then started and stayed running.
Port side primed up good i thought then started and immediately died, I primed again for several minutes then had my mate start the engine as I was pumping and that did the trick, took 15 minutes.
You’ll get it, just stay at it.
September 7, 2020 at 2:44 pm #103398Thank you for the reply Tony,
I pulled the inspection screen off and I believe mine to be the Centa CFR.
I have a few offshore trips this week that consist of a 2.5 hour run each way and now knowing I have this occurring, it makes me a bit nervous going.
I have not seen any performance issues. Should I address this immediately ?
Thanks once again for your help.

September 5, 2020 at 5:47 pm #103358So I to have noticed these rubber pieces around my port engine, I also have a bit of rattle when i put it in gear briefly
If this is the torsional coupling going bad, whats is a rough guess on the repair for this if you have an idea
Thank you
Greg
June 23, 2020 at 6:13 pm #99917Well I’m happy to say, 2 full days with ZERO hiccups in the RPM’s jumping around
I am confident the issue was a bad connection at the engine harness
Thanks all for chiming in
And another big Thank you to Tony pointing me in the correct direction
GregJune 22, 2020 at 6:50 pm #99845I got it all cleaned up real nice like and zero issues today, I will get some dielectric on it tomorrow,
I’ really hope I got the problem solved, tomorrow will be a good test but nevertheless I’d like to thank you for you putting in your time with me

June 22, 2020 at 5:32 pm #99841Tony,
So a bit of a follow up, in the beginning of this thread I forgot to mention that while i’m at cruise, 2380 every now and then it will jump up to like 2440 then recover and repeat.
After you mentioned the potentiometer, I bought 2 of them and replaced the one I thought was faulty and then the next day it acted right back up again.
I sat there staring at my engine as to what the heck could be going on, so I pulled out a mirror and traced the potentiometer wire back to where it ties into the engine harness. I unplugged it and and put a magnifying glass on it with flashlight and i did have significant corrosion on it,, a whitish / greenish film on it. I cleaned it up very good and plugged it back in last night.
Today I had a wreck fishing trip out 30 miles, it never acted up once at cruise and I did troll a mile from one wreck to another and again never acted up. Today was the first day in many many days I have not had this act up, tomorrow will be the test again as I have a few inshore trips with lots of trolling.
I will keep you all posted as to the progress as I hate when someone post a problem they have with no follow up on the fix
P.S. Brent, I can still pronounce potentiometer, man this is a tongue twister for me LOL
Thanks all
June 20, 2020 at 7:46 pm #99762Welp, I installed the new potentiometer and I still have the problem.
My first 10 minutes of trolling were great and i was happy till it happened again, acted up a small amount for 15 minutes and then disappeared for 8 or so hours, then at the end of the trip I got up on plane for about a 1/2 mile and when I brought the throttles back it appeared again LOL
Possible bad injector ??
Thanks all
June 15, 2020 at 7:21 am #99455Thank you,

I’m really hoping it the sensor that i just purchased
June 14, 2020 at 7:15 pm #99436JJM,

June 14, 2020 at 6:51 pm #99431I have no check engine light for this hiccup in rpm jump
I am certain about my fuel delivery and all filters be correct
Something was telling me this was electronically related based on how it comes and goes and after learning about the potentiometer, It makes great possible sense i’m onto something thanks to Tony.
I bought 2 of them in hopes that this is the gremlin and if not, i’m only out $80.00 bucks + shipping
This rack adjustment you speak of is interesting, do you have the 480CE’s ? I googled it and boat diesel came up and I can’t view the thread so i’m baffled about this adjustment, might you kindly describe this in more detail please ?
Greg
June 14, 2020 at 6:44 pm #99429Tony,

Greg
June 14, 2020 at 6:13 pm #99423Thank you
So I got the numbers off the back of the potentiometer ” CTS PBT-G30 ”
I googled it and came up with CTS PBT-G30 Throttle Position Sensor TPS
$ 39.00 Old new stock so I think I will buy it for the heck of it and give it a go
I would love to get my throttle and gear to operate via electronically like yours, sounds like an expensive venture though.
June 14, 2020 at 5:35 pm #99418Tony,
I follow what your saying, same as swapping a coil to a different cylinder to see if the code follows
This is a small glitch that I think I can live with unless overtime I’m creating a bigger issue, some days it doesn’t even do it, I’m quite in tune with my boat and I do notice when it happens
In your opinion, is this something I should immediately address ?
Thanks for you time Tony I really do appreciate you input more than you know
Greg
June 14, 2020 at 5:03 pm #99414Tony,
I am learning the boat the best I can Tony and I assure you I do my best, but I am no Diesel mechanic by any means. the picture i’m posting is a bit dark because they were tucked away quite well against the firewall, so please excuse my thick headed ignorance if you could
Yes the previous owner let the Ethylene Glycol level get a bit low and the aluminum canister was not pressurized, I did fill it accordingly and re-pressurized it to spec post on canister. and have never had any issues other than this hiccup
I pray this is what your wanting to see in order of avoiding more public embarrassment.
I can certainly go back down and take a better picture if need be with the flash on, i didn’t realize it was so dark until I got home to send it to you
Greg
June 14, 2020 at 1:31 pm #99346Tony,
