    Hi Tony and gang.

I chimed in on another thread involving this torsion coupler but I don’t want to stomp on his thread with my issue so I started my own her

So I have recently started to see remanence particles which I believe to be my torsion coupler going bad.

I had my dock mate on the boat this morning who just went through this and he thinks the same thing.

He told me it looks like there is more than enough room to complete this task while in the water

So now i’m trying to figure out which torsion coupler that I need

    Engine serial # is: 46237145

    ZF280-1 A
    Serial number is : 20030165

Also is there options I think there is 2 on your site that mention they fit the 6CTA

Thank you for the reply Tony,

I pulled the inspection screen off and I believe mine to be the Centa CFR.

I have a few offshore trips this week that consist of a 2.5 hour run each way and now knowing I have this occurring, it makes me a bit nervous going.

I have not seen any performance issues. Should I address this immediately ?

Thanks once again for your help.

    Greg

    Cummins 6CTA & ZF280A Torsional Coupling

In the case of mating these to pieces of equipment together, it’s easy.. There are 3 common types that are all “Plug & Play” / 100% interchangeable.. We only sell 2 of the 3 types.. The Vulkan Torflex 1600 and the Centa CFR for this specific application..

The 3rd type (you may have it) is the Centa DF-DS 40 series — IMO, my experience is they not as “long term” as the other 2..

Please, don’t ask me what one is better.. I have basically seen the “good, the bad, and the ugly” of every “monkey motion type rubber coupling” ever designed and put behind a marine gear in applications to about 1000 HP and on every color of engine..None of them are “forever” …………….Currently, I have Vulkan all pissed off at me for posting pictures of some their failed Vulastik L couplings on my web site.. OH well ! They made their bed, they can sleep in it.
