    Hello all,

So I have a 2003 Carolina Classic 35 with Cummins 6cta 480ce that I bought a few months ago and I have been going through the boat fixing, cleaning upgrading ect…

So from day one and even on sea trial I asked about these several drops of oil below my Walker Air filters.
This has been bugging me about oil dripping out of them, sometimes i’ll noticed maybe a teaspoons worth and sometimes just a few drops depending on how often I checked.

Well this evening i have discovered the flaw in mine and believe several other people have this same exact problem and are just chasing their tails looking for the true answer.

As I said I have been getting everything cleaned up, engines are fully painted along with everything else in the engine bay, the only raggy looking thing left was my Walker Airseps, paint is flaking off them and overspray from previous owner paint and such so I decided i was going to redo them. I cleaned and sanded them down and this is when I discovered where the oil has been coming from.

Once i got them sanded down i noticed oil would just continue to drain out the bottom of the housing, if you look real close, you will notice that they use a glue to assemble these. I wiped both of them down at least a dozen times and just a minute later I can just watch them to continue to leak and bear in mind that this is always where my oil drops are coming from that drip on a diaper down below.

Tomorrow I am going to seal this seam with JB Weld and i am 100 % confident that this is going to resolve this problem.

Unless you sanded these down and cleaned them over and over like I have, one would have never discovered this problem area

    * Please Note that the amount of oil you are seeing in these picture accumulated in just a few minutes time and they have been on my bench for hours now.

I hope this will help you all with this problem all to many people have

    Thanks William,

I cleaned it all up with acetone and put Gorilla epoxy on the seams then painted it all up, looks great now.

Greg I actually called walker and they told me that the cracks in the seam is a common problem and they sell a kit to repair it if you’re interested .Bill
