    • Qsb 5.9 belt squeak at startup

April 8, 2024 at 1:01 pm I’ve read the other posts here on this topic with no luck. Every initial startup, the belt squeaks for 5-10min. Then no noises the rest of the day. I’ve  replaced belt, fresh water pump, raw water pump, tensioner, and alternator. I’ve noticed a lot more belt dust on that motor than the other and am at my wits end. Could the alternator be working too hard initially? It shouldn’t, as the batteries are always on the charger. I also could not find t…

January 17, 2024 at 5:45 pm Have two (2) 6BTA5.9M2 marine engines with dealer installed VDO 0- 250 deg. F two- wire electric analog helm gauges. I know these type gauges are not high accuracy, but these are way off. Heat gun reading the sender base (and reading the accessible coolant areas will show 178-184 degrees and the gauge reads 205 (same both engines). • QSB 5.9 low voltage to lift pump

This topic has 3 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated byCorey Schmidt 3 months ago

January 20, 2024 at 11:51 am I had a no start issue at anchor the other day, & I could not hear the lift pump. At the connector I only had 8.6 volts with key on 1.3V with key off. I can also hear a buzzing coming from the HPCR pump (which is not normally heard over the sound of the lift pump) it shuts down after approximately 60 seconds. Applying 12v to the lift pump did not make it run. So it was toast. I replaced it with a used onboard spare but powered it with a dire…

January 22, 2024 at 9:20 pm The ECM has a power driver that regulates the lift pump and supplies it with 12V power to operate… You should see a good 12V at the 2-pin connector for the first 30 seconds after energizing the engine. Other than the ECM, there are no other components that interface electrically with the lift pump.

November 15, 2017 at 10:06 am This came up briefly in another discussion but I thought it made sense to make the topic it’s own thread. September 28, 2020 at 6:34 am Good day, I have had problems with insite program running the cylinder cut out diagnosis. The program simply locks the test out without any spacifics as what was the cause. I had cummings up date the origional ECM which did not solve the problem. Recently Cummins replaced the ECM with a new unit and the cylinder cut out test remains locked out. Cummins seems to be at an impasse. Anyone ever have this problem ?
