Is it possible that your fuel was stolen from the tank and replaced with water during the ground transport?
It seems more likely to me that a fuel filler was mistaken for a water cap and water was added to the fuel tank, perhaps before it left on the ground journey

Just keep starting the low hour engine first and shutting it down last! Eventually you will catch up

    QSB5.9ā€™s. 6kw genset
I just modified the top plates of the strainers- welded SS fittings- clip on a 3/4 dock hose, run for 5mins ( taste tested) genset does not require closing of seacock, engines do.

Installed a Cummins jumper cable for from Seaboard Marine. ( great price!)

MUS jumpers, Port to slave and Stbd to master.

Disconnected one VV4 from Raymarine, leaving the other connected to the backbone.

Now both engines talking to each other, and only one VV4 communicating with Raymarine, but transmitting both sets of data.

Problem was the 2 smartcraft Gateways were competing. Unable to change their addresses without joining the engines, then no need as you only require one gateway.

    Seems simple now

Change it on condition. The bottom one is corroding because it stays immersed, or at least wet, the top is drying out after shutdown.

Ok, Iā€™ll try returning the port engine to master.
Here are a couple of screen shots ( in order) better explaining the data issue.

You can see there is no conflict in the addresses of the VV4ā€™s ( 0 & 1)

Oddly, the integral Smartcraft Gateways only show up one st a time, both with the same address as 8

Hi Corey, thanks for taking the time to respond, I appreciate your thoughts.

The Raymarine displays the first connected VV4, regardless of master/slave. I think this indicates an instance conflict?

    1) I changed from 2 masters to slave and master as a troubleshooting step. The engines do see each other, through the Raymarine network. I can select the VesselView displays to show both engines, even though there is no connection between the engine harnesses. The ONLY thing they have in common is they are both connected to to the Raymarine backbone via a single DeviceNet cable from the Nmea2000 plug on the back of each VesselView display.

    2) I do not have separate Smartcraft Gateways, just the VV4,s. I describe the Smartcraft Gateways because they show up on the list of connected devices on the Raymarine MFD.
    Typically, the list shows:
    VV4 [serial number]
    VV4 [serial number]
Smartcraft Gateway [ serial number of the first VV4 to connect]

When I connect the other VV4 first, itā€™s (built-in) Gateway ( and matching VV4 serial number) shows as connected, and on selecting details, it shows the CAN address (8), same as the previously connected Gateway. This makes makes me think this is an instance problem.

When Iā€™m back in a couple of days, Iā€™ll take some screenshots of the device connected list on the Raymarine network

I agree with Tony, these Smartcraft screens should never have been paired with Cummins engines. There are too many functions that donā€™t work or are not compatible.

Did the link between the engine harness junction boxes fix the problem? I have an identical issue with my set up, although my SIM are version 1

I had this message on one engine yesterday after a complete battery change

Was a blown fuse on the ECM. My engines are near new version 1 reco QSB5.9 380hp.

It turns out there are 4 fuses on each engine, one more than the Cummins guy was expecting.

Iā€™m told his attendance and troubleshooting is not under warranty.

Was a great trip! I went on a Bluewater Magazine hosted trip, caught a couple, one @ 750lb and another at 1000lbs. A few beers, lots of lobster- worth doing. Make sure you get a Bruce Bros boat..

I recently spent a week up there fishing for bluefin with the Bruce Bros, they had nothing but good things to say about Cummins and Seaboard. We talked a lot about that as I had recently installed 2 new QSB,s on my boat.

By ā€˜researchā€™ I mean going through the VV4 manual.

Thanks Mike & Tony. My ZFā€™s do indeed have trolling valves that are operational and I use (for live bait)

From my research, the Trolling feature in the VV4 is not related to the valves. It apparently allows you to select an RPM at which to troll.

The Cruise feature allows you to target an RPM or a speed (with GPS input) at which you can cruise at.

If these features are available in the VV4 on QSB engines, Iā€™d like them enabled for use.

Thanks Corey, itā€™s the manual input that I was after, there is no level sensor in the tank
