December 26, 2019 at 9:56 am First post and as a new diesel owner everyone recommended I get set up on this page. I was hoping I wouldnā€™t have to start asking questions the day after my boat got shippped to me. I will try to make this as short as possible but I donā€™t want to miss any details with because itā€™s flat out weird. 2001 Carolina Classic 35 that just shipped to me from Ohio. Cummins 6bta 450 diamond series engines.. sea trail in Ohio went perfect with no issues. …

March 7, 2020 at 8:15 am No I have pictures from when the boat was wrapped to whe. It was delivered. I actually took the wrap off. Nothing was modified near the fuel tanks. Likewise have picture proof that the fuel vents were covered by the wrap during transport so no water got in that way either.

    • Engine flush fittings.

August 16, 2019 at 8:10 am I see Seaboard has bronze in line flush fittings for cummins engines. Is there any more sizes available? I’m looking for different barb end sizes. I have a few boats I work on that I would really like to add the ability to flush easier. Most of the boats are live aboards. 1 1/4 ,1 1/2 1 inch. I probably can cobble something together but those bronze fittings are real nice.

September 9, 2019 at 3:46 am Engine hours are memorised by the ECM. So unless the ECM has been changed the total engine hours displayed on Vessel view will be correct. For example, if you replace a vessel view display with a new display (as I did with an SMX display) the correct hours will be displayed.

    • Network problem two engine display on Raymarine

July 20, 2019 at 4:59 am Iā€™m trying to network my two recently installed QSB5.9 version one SIM engines to my Raymarine MFDā€™s. (serial numbers 60294916 & 60295589) I have connected the individual VesselView 4ā€™s to the raymarine backbone via device net cables. The engines are not linked. Only one engine at a time is showing up on the network. The MUS settings are set for stbd master and port slave. VV4ā€™s are port and stbd and different identities ( locations) set. B…

September 9, 2019 at 12:50 am Installed a Cummins jumper cable for from Seaboard Marine. ( great price!) MUS jumpers, Port to slave and Stbd to master. Disconnected one VV4 from Raymarine, leaving the other connected to the backbone. Now both engines talking to each other, and only one VV4 communicating with Raymarine, but transmitting both sets of data. Problem was the 2 smartcraft Gateways were competing. Unable to change their addresses without joining the engines, then…

November 12, 2018 at 2:08 pm Not sure if this should be under Cummins or Electonics but assume Cummins at this point. Just re-powered my Bertram31 with Cummins QSB 5.9 380s with 2 VesselView 4s at the same helm. I have been operating with segmented Engines set both to Master and had a dedicated VV4 as the Gauge for the Port and Starboard (however the Port VV reported the its engine as Starboard). THANKS to a discussion with Corey –i switched the Jumper on the MUS …

July 22, 2017 at 5:10 pm Cummins had to replace my QSB 5.9 engine and put a Recon in it this last week. All seems to be fine. They very nicely gave me a version 3 VesselView as I didn’t have one in the boat. We connected it for the sea trial and it all worked fine yesterday. Today, shortly after starting the engine I got the “sim no J39 data” error. When this occurs, don’t get any rpm reading, either on the VesselView or the original tachome…

May 15, 2019 at 5:42 pm I had this message on one engine yesterday after a complete battery change Was a blown fuse on the ECM. My engines are near new version 1 reco QSB5.9 380hp. It turns out there are 4 fuses on each engine, one more than the Cummins guy was expecting. Iā€™m told his attendance and troubleshooting is not under warranty.

November 26, 2018 at 4:42 am Hi all, I have a pair of recently installed QSB5.9 380hp with Vessel View 4ā€™s. Troll mode has been displayed in yellow with (apparently no operational effect ) since installation. When I try to disable it, the disable button is greyed out. When the engines were commissioned, the Cummins Tech noticed this, but brushed it off. I would like to know if this feature (Troll rpm) and Cruise mode as per the operating manual is available with these Q…

November 26, 2018 at 6:19 pm Wayne, If you figure it out how to incorporate something that is glitch free, reliable, intuitive to use, fulled supported, and something you can troubleshooted if problems occurs, let me know.. At this point in time, those parameters do do exist with my “since 2004” experiences using “Mercury Electronics”, AKA “SmartCraft” or what I am not allowed to call it anymore.in a public forum. Tony

October 11, 2018 at 12:53 am I recently installed 2 X QSB 5.9 380 engines into my boat equipped with Vessel View 4 indicators I have no tank quantity indication (I use a dipstick), but note there is good fuel flow indication. Can I set the system up to indicate fuel remaining if I give it the tank capacity of the boat? Or at the least, a ā€˜fuel usedā€™ summary after each trip? Thanks in advance Wayne Spalding Tank quantity ~ 1500ltrs
