September 29, 2022 at 4:25 pm Background. Fired up motors flawlessly Sunday. Didn’t take the boat out just making sure everything worked as I waited to install new steering.   Monday night Ian comes. No major winds here in Big Pine, but tons of rain. Never lost power but I did turn off the breaker to the shore power from Monday evening through Wednesday afternoon. I am sure she pumped a a TON of water, but I have 1000 AH through an inverter providing 120 V to keep…

January 6, 2022 at 1:48 pm This isn’t a “what could it be” post. I just wanted to chronicle my last few days for anyone who may need reference Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Back story. Christmas Eve sunset boat ride with my family and I noted the boat was sluggish on the port motor to come up to cruise. It would get there and WOT maintained it’s 3150 with no loss in speed once at cruise and above.Ā  No puffy black smoke and I didn’t check the exhaust directly. I th…

To crawl outboard of one of the motors to hold turbo housing in place. And then I did the opposite and she put on the clip ring.Ā    After that the rest was smooth. I swapped the top aftercooler bolt for a stud. 100x easier to install. Then buttoned everything up. No leaks I could se…

    • Engine Cleaning

September 22, 2021 at 8:21 am Does anyone have a recommendation for what to use to clean the engine/trans? Or do you have a product/procedure you use? I have no need to make it perfect. And aside from pulling the engines, I have no room to do that either. But I would like to use some sort of spray on/wash off cleaner for the block etc. I looked through Tonys Tips but didnt see anything. Also couldnt find anything via a search function.

July 25, 2020 at 1:45 pm Ok. So my generator took a crap. The wife and I both want to build a battery bank to provide for 4 to 5 hours of Air conditioning. Anything overnight we will bring portables as needed. The goal is to keep the kids cool in the cabin while anchored out during evening sunset trips, or reef fishing in silence. I plan to build an 1110 ah bank out of 6v batteries to charge off a designated charger while at the dock. Weight isn’t a concern and I…

Not concerned that im making that much boost as.im confident something would have went boom, but I’m not sure how the gauge works and wether I should be looking for a ground issue or power/sender issue. • Best replacement for Racor 1000

This topic has 2 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated byRob Schepis 4 years ago

August 16, 2019 at 6:44 am I was looking at a new filter set up. I never understood what Racor-it-is was, but now I am disassembling my filters for the second time this year to clean gunk from the bowl. I’d much rather just change an entire spin on filter, and im ready to switch over. I do not have room for a dual filter setup. Has to be one filter. What would be the best option for a Cummins 370.
